Normalize muzzle training ✨

Not because they’re “aggressive.”
Not because they’re “mean.”
But because life happens.

Dogs wear muzzles for SO many reasons:
• Vet visits
• Emergencies/injuries
• Grooming
• Introducing nervous dogs to new situations
• Protecting dogs from making just one bad decision on one bad day

Even the sweetest dog in the world can bite when they’re terrified or in pain.
The problem is, most people wait until they NEED a muzzle… and then try to introduce it during the most stressful moment possible. Basically like teaching someone how to swim while the boat is sinking 😅

Muzzle training should look boring. Casual. Positive. ROUTINE.
Because a muzzle trained dog is not a failed dog. It’s a prepared dog!

Post-hike photoshoot to end the session 🌲

In case anyone was curious, Cholula is approximately the size of a balled up 30-foot long lead.

If your dog never seems ACTUALLY tired… there’s a reason!

🚫 Constant motion doesn’t equal fulfillment.
When we only work a dog physically, they get really good at staying active! But running them into the ground doesn’t teach them how to come back down.

✔️ A fulfilled dog is physically AND mentally exhausted.
They understand how to self-regulate, and can exist without constantly seeking the next outlet.

One creates an athlete.
The other creates REAL rest.

If you feel like you’re constantly chasing exhaustion… you might just need a different approach! 🐾

“Let’s go outside and see if they’ll engage with me”
Macie and Lillie: frolicking away 😌

All jokes aside… while this is just a cute game for them, littermate syndrome CAN look like:
• low confidence
• relying on each other instead of thinking independently
• lacking problem-solving skills
• struggling to focus on their human counterparts

In some cases, what looks like a “strong bond” can quickly turn into reactivity, anxiety, and 1 shared (hyperactive) brain 🧠 Luckily these girls are already off to a great start!!!

This is Oakley.

Her hobbies include:
• assuming the worst (and acting immediately)
• handling it (no one asked her to handle it)
• missing the tug and biting me instead (she feels no remorse)
• aspiring protection dog (she has warrants in 12 states)

We’re working on it 😅

Been a little quiet on here lately, life has been busy in the best ways 🐾

Here’s a few recent training moments (And some life ones!)
And if you look really closely… you can spot my tiny trainee at 0:05 taking his job way too seriously.

Reunited with Luna 🖤
Just as sweet as ever, still soaking up every bit of learning she can, AND the iconic “hello” butt wiggle remains intact 👏🏽

Just wanted to record a few clips of our play session and ended up catching a quiet moment of connection ✨

Did you notice when Barkley started the heel a little too hot and corrected it on his own? That’s not something you micro-manage into a dog. It comes from clarity, confidence, and a relationship where the dog feels safe enough to think for itself.

Grateful for moments like these with all of your wonderful dogs everyday 🩵
