Cole is much better today. They want to do one last check in the morning so if all goes well he will be coming home tomorrow. is posting updates on their page and some some pix as well so look there to follow his vet adventure.

We did not place in top 20 the last grants round but got so close. Per the rules, our votes rolled over to this cycle! Yay! So right now we are no.4 but it will be hard to stay there. We need your help to stay in top 20 by end of Sept 30!

Among the Vikings, cats were closely associated with Freyja, the Norse goddess of love, fertility, beauty, prosperity, and magic.

According to the Prose Edda, Freyja rode a chariot pulled by two enormous cats, making felines powerful symbols of good fortune and domestic happiness.

Cats were also highly valued for protecting grain stores and homes from rats and mice, and they likely traveled aboard Viking ships for the same purpose. Their practical importance, combined with their sacred connection to Freyja, gave them a special place in Norse society.

Later Scandinavian folklore held that cats were given as wedding gifts to newlyweds as a blessing for a prosperous marriage and fertile household.

These two kittens, about 4 weeks old and 6 weeks old respectively, were rescued by 2 separate volunteers in the past week - kittens showed up at their homes. While they are each safe currently with them, it would be fabulous to unite them as buddies to play with each other. The tabby definitely needs a foster with us or another rescue to take in. The volunteer is unable to keep long term due to her own cats getting very upset with change. The snowshoe mix is fine where he is but certainly would benefit from having a young buddy and that volunteer can’t take on an additional kitten. These are two awesome volunteers who stepped up to take on these kittens to keep them safe. They didn’t ask me if we could take them in. The snowshoe was accepted because the volunteer offered to take care of it. She had thought about taking to shelter adoption program, not wanting to burden our already full program but I said we should be able to get him sponsored and adopted. The tabby I have not been able to promise the same because there’s no foster to help.

Apply to foster via Sparklecatrescue.org/foster. We need to wait for each of them to be quarantined for 14 days at the current homes before they can be placed together. This is for their safety and to monitor for illnesses that might pop up.

Neither will be ready for adoption until they are fully vetted but you can get preapproved now. Kittens need to be adopted to a home with another cat in it or adopted with a buddy. Senior cats may not be best fit if the addition of an energetic kitten would disturb their peace.
