Behemoth is home from the vet. $251 for the emergency vet visit today but all that matters is that she’s going to be okay!

Doing intramuscular injections of antibiotics every 3 days for 3 weeks and daily oral syringes for the next 5 days for pain management.

Diagnosis is that her lungs seem okay, we caught it before it turns into a respiratory infection and pneumonia. Small amount of blood in the mouth so thinking it’s only a small bit of stomatitis at the moment.

Completely overhauling her enclosure today. New substrate, disinfecting EVERYTHING, new heating system, new lighting system. Completely redoing all of her husbandry. Definitely a lot of money I didn’t plan on spending today, however, she is more than worth it.

The vet said she was a WONDERFUL patient today and they loved working with her ❤️

I GOT MY FAVORITE SNAKE.
An adult female Dumeril’s Boa, Acrantophis Dumerili.

Approximately 20lbs, 7-8 feet long, 7 years old… and PUPPY DOG TAME. Such a beautiful, exciting species.

She will be paired with my adult male and they will make incredible babies.

Some guidelines on how to understand reptiles. I feel like if people can understand these simple things, it makes bonding with them so much easier. Mutual respect goes a long way with these animals. Stop humanizing them, and stop equating them to dogs and cats, they are none of those things. They are REPTILES.

They do not love, they trust.
They do not enjoy, they tolerate.
They are not domesticated, they are tamed.
They are not trained, they are conditioned.

These four simple rules have gone a long way with me and my ability to connect with these animals. They are incredible.
