Bullying remains a pervasive issue in the rescue community, an unfortunate truth that many, including myself, have experienced firsthand. Despite our shared mission of helping animals, some individuals resort to hostile behaviors, often because I choose not to conform to their methods. In my 22 years of service in various rescue roles, I've witnessed these toxic dynamics far too often, and it's clear that they need to be addressed. Although I've learned to block negativity and move forward, the hurtful comments from those who haven’t even met me still sting. Ironically, when we finally meet face-to-face, perceptions often change, revealing just how misguided initial judgments can be. The drama in a field dedicated to compassion for animals is disheartening. However, I’m grateful for the supportive partnerships I’ve formed with like-minded rescues who share my vision. It’s crucial to remember that each person in the rescue community faces their own battles, and kindness can go a long way in supporting one another.
🌈😭 RIP Mikayla Raines 😭🌈
💔 THE BULLYING OF RESCUERS NEEDS TO STOP!! 💔
Mikayla of 🦊Saveafox Corporation🦊 died by su***de after taking bullying to heart. She had a lot of mental health struggles, as many of us rescuers seem to have. She was always very open about her struggles. Listening to her husband announce to everyone that she ended her life and why was absolutely heart wrenching!
Rescuers should be building each other up, not tearing each other down! I can’t believe she is no longer here… I especially can’t believe it is a result of bullying. IF YOU DON’T HAVE ANYTHING NICE TO SAY, DON’T SAY ANYTHING AT ALL!!!
Life is hard enough. Rescue is hard enough. Fellow rescuers should not be tearing each other down unless there is serious neglect happening. In all of the videos she has shared, all of the animals looked very well cared for. Her loss is an absolute tragedy.
Mikayla was an amazing human who did so much good for the rescue community, especially the foxes, and now she is gone. My heart is absolutely broken for her, her husband, her daughter, all of the animals in her care who absolutely adored her, and all of the future animals in need that she is no longer here to help.
RIP Mikayla. Thank you for dedicating your life to saving animals. You mattered. Your life mattered. 💔
