Promises Never Broken Equine Rescue

Promises Never Broken Equine Rescue Volunteer run 501(c)(3) non-profit dedicated to the rescue, care, & rehabilitation of horses. Some have been saved from end of the road auctions.

The sanctuary/rescue facility houses and cares for unwanted, neglected, abused, or injured horses. Started and operated by Sharon Allison an experienced and knowledgeable horse enthusiast whose mission is giving the horses a comfortable safe haven where they can rest and get healthy while waiting for adoption. If an adoption is not feasible due to health conditions then they will have a peaceful l

oving home where they can live out their remaining years comfortably. The horses that are taken in come from many different situations and environments, but they all share the need for a home where they can feel secure. Others come from homes where their owners just could not afford to keep them or care for them any longer. The majority of our permanent resident horses are elderly and suffer chronic health conditions that need daily attention. Regardless of where they come from no horse is turned away. All of our horses receive foot and hoof care, vaccinations, medication, and dental work if needed. Any critical or painful health conditions are treated individually by our Veterinarian. Our Rescue is funded and run by donations from local farmers and neighbors. Every donation that is given is put to good use. We have a small dedicated staff who donate their time and labor selflessly all for the love of horses. If you would like to help, any donations of hay, grain, bedding etc. would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your concern for our beautiful and majestic equines!

Greetings, Friends, Neighbors, and Supporters of Promises Never Broken!

I’m Miss Louise, the resident mouser and the voice of the horses and donkeys here at the rescue. Recently, we learned that the bike run has been canceled, and we're brainstorming ways to fundraise. One of our more outspoken horses—who shall remain nameless—has come up with a rather unique idea: selling foot pictures to our followers!

While I’ve cleverly figured out how to type on someone’s phone when they leave it in the office, I’m still working on how to share those pictures with you. In the meantime, you can support us by donating via Venmo or PayPal, or feel free to email us for our address if you'd like to send a check. Humans often leave their phones around the barn, so I’m sure we can make this work!

Here’s a sneak peek of some foot pictures I’ve managed to take so far.

The horses and I truly appreciate your ongoing support for our rescue!

Dear Friends, Neighbors, and Followers of Promises Never Broken,

It is with great sadness that we announce the cancellation of this year’s bike run, originally scheduled for September 19th, due to unforeseen circumstances beyond our control.

As a small 501(c)(3) organization, this bike run serves as one of our largest fundraisers, providing vital funds for grain, hay, and veterinary expenses during the crucial winter months that are approaching.

If you would still like to contribute, donations can be made via Venmo, PayPal, or by check. Please email us at [email protected] for the address, or send us a direct message on Facebook so we can provide the necessary details.

We truly appreciate each and every one of you for your continued support during this challenging time.

With heartfelt gratitude,

The Staff and Volunteers of Promises Never Broken

Have you ever wondered why horses require salt blocks?

Horses need salt blocks to maintain their health. Salt plays a crucial role in hydration and muscle function, supports nerve activity, and helps prevent deficiencies. As horses lose salt through sweat and urine, their diet often lacks sufficient salt, and a salt block helps bridge this gap. This ensures that horses remain balanced, active, and healthy.

Salt blocks are solid pieces of salt specifically designed for horses. They supply essential minerals, such as sodium and chloride.

There are various types of horse salt blocks available; some are plain, while others are enriched with additional minerals.

Himalayan salt blocks are particularly popular, as horses lick these blocks to obtain the necessary salt.

By placing them in stables or pastures, they become easily accessible. Salt blocks help keep horses healthy and well-balanced.

Dundee and Kat certainly enjoy theirs!

Dear Friends, Neighbors, and Followers of Promises Never Broken,

It is with heavy hearts that we share the sorrowful news of the passing of another cherished legacy horse, Corsa.

Corsa, a thoroughbred, joined our original rescue years ago alongside her pasture mate, Dundee. Though separated by a fence, they shared a special bond.

She treated the feed chests as her personal buffet and preferred the freedom of being with the herd rather than being stalled. Corsa had her unique way of communicating with humans, nodding her head in agreement or disagreement, and never turned down a banana or peppermint. She adored affection but would gently indicate when she had had enough. Corsa served as a therapy horse for one of our volunteer's daughters, offering gentle nuzzles and soft nickers.

The name Corsa, which roughly translates from Italian to "run" or "race," was fitting. When she ran, she truly earned her name, dashing faster than any horse in the barn to reach her favorite spot in the top pasture, claiming her share of hay or grass. She was a vision of grace, her long black mane flowing in the wind.

Now, Corsa runs alongside her friends Kitty and Maggie, as well as other beloved horses from Promises Never Broken.

We will deeply miss Corsa and her playful antics.

Run fast and free, sweet girl. You will forever hold a special place in our hearts

Wishing a Joyous Independence Day to Our Friends, Neighbors, and Followers of Promises Never Broken!

In light of the intense heat we experienced this week, our priority has been to ensure our horses remain comfortable while still enjoying some fun with our residents. Buttercup and Clyde embraced the festivities, perfectly capturing the patriotic spirit as we celebrate our nation’s 250 years of independence. Stay safe and have a wonderful day!

Celebrating Our Young Volunteers at Promises Never Broken

Hello Friends, Neighbors, and Supporters!

Throughout the month of June, we are thrilled to pay tribute to our young volunteers at the rescue.

This month, we are delighted to celebrate our third and final young volunteer, Addy! Bravo, Addy!

Addy began her journey working at a private boarding barn during her high school years. To graduate, she needed to complete volunteer hours at a rescue or another nonprofit organization, as required by many local schools. Through a mutual friend, Addy connected with us just before her senior year to fulfill this requirement. She started her journey at our previous location, and now she’s gearing up to begin her Junior year in college, where she is majoring in Cyber Security along with a variety of other courses.

Addy’s dedication to the horses is truly exceptional, and they certainly remember her fondly. She recalls each horse’s unique quirks and habits. Moreover, she never shies away from putting in hard work, even on early Sunday mornings, after working full-time during the summer at a local establishment.

Please join us in celebrating Addy, as we reflect on our humble beginnings and embark on new adventures in our new home.

Celebrating Our Young Volunteers at Promises Never Broken

Hello Friends, Neighbors, and Followers!

This month, we are thrilled to honor Livi during our second young volunteer celebration. Additionally, today marks her 6th birthday. Happy Birthday, Livi!

Livi has been volunteering alongside her Mimi for three years now. She eagerly tackles tasks such as mucking stalls, feeding the horses, cleaning pastures, and distributing hay, all for the joy of spending time with these wonderful animals.

Having recently graduated from kindergarten, Livi is excited to start 1st grade this fall. In her free time, she enjoys playing hockey and caring for her two pets at home. Livi shares that she aspires to become both a veterinarian and a hockey player when she grows up.

Please join us in celebrating Livi for being our youngest volunteer and for her special 6th birthday!

Hello Friends, Neighbors, and Supporters of Promises Never Broken.

We would like to provide an update on Chubb’s path to recovery. Chubb's has successfully completed his third round of shockwave treatment, which employs high-energy sound waves to boost blood flow, lessen inflammation, and enhance tissue regeneration. Additionally, his insulin levels have significantly decreased, allowing us to begin him on steroids. Chubb's continues to receive daily breathing treatments to further assist in his recovery.

As a small 501(c)(3) horse rescue that relies solely on donations, we are actively fundraising for his ongoing care. All contributions are tax-deductible. You can donate via Venmo and PayPal, or request our mailing address by sending us a message.

We sincerely appreciate your ongoing support for Chubb’s journey. Your contributions enable us to fulfill our commitment to his health.

With gratitude,

The Staff and Volunteers of Promises Never Broken
