Amid the fear and chaos, she never once thought of parting with him. This dog was part of her life, her home, her family — and no hardship could change her mind.

THERE IS A MEMORY OF A SMALL CASSETTE PLAYER THAT MY FOLKS SENT OVER AND THE CREEDENCE TAPE MY SISTER SENT OVER.

NOT SURE WHY BUT WHEN IT GOT QUIET AFTER WE LOST SOMEONE SITTING AROUND LISTENING TO THIS SONG ON THE CASSETTE PLAYER.

IT COMES UP SOMETIMES, THE SONG, AND EVERYTHING INSIDE OF YOU STOPS, SOMETIMES YOU HEAR SOMEONE ASK YOU, "WHATS THE MATTER?" YOUR MIND AND SOUL WANTS TO ANSWER THAT QUESTION, "EVERYTHING IS THE MATTER," BUT ALL YOU EVER SAY IS "NOTHING, IT ALL GOOD."

🫣😬 Removing a thumb just incase sounds odd when you say it out-loud.

👉 Dew claws are the least injured digit so says a study on digit injuries in agility dogs.

👉 Anatomy texts show five tendons attaching to the front dewclaw, suggesting a functional role (rather than purely vestigial) in stabilising the lower limb during high-speed turns and cantering.

👉 Whilst many people remove dewclaws “just in case they catch/rip”, that removal may reduce stability (increase torque) in active movements and possibly increase risk of other injuries.

Can we stop removing functional digits from litters yet or are we still making up reasons to do it that have been proven not so?

Before you say….but I know a dog who injured their dew claw…yes, we know, but you don’t remove your big toe because you stubbed it or tore the nail off in an accident…😳
