Like most professions, you just aren't gonna make everyone happy, and some people will only see you from their perspective(which is usually wrong). I just keep doing my thang knowing the best clients will keep coming back💅🏻

Life of a Groomer - The Grooming Clients Double Standard

💬 “She couldn’t groom my dog because he was too difficult. She must have been mean or impatient.”

💬She groomed my wiggly dog, and she nicked his leg!"

💬 “She groomed my dog, and he came home happy and healthy—but one ear is a quarter inch longer than the other.”

💬 “Her prices are so affordable, but she grooms too many dogs each day. My dog doesn’t get enough individual attention.”

💬 “She works one-on-one from her home, and can groom only four dogs a day. Why is she so expensive?”

💬 “She has openings next week? She must not be very good.”

💬 “She’s booked for weeks! Why can’t she be more accommodating?”

💬 “My groomer stopped grooming my dog to answer the phone. My dog should have her full attention!”

💬 “My groomer never answers the phone.”

💬 “That grooming loop looks too tight. My poor dog must be uncomfortable.”

💬 “The grooming loop wasn’t tight enough, and my dog jumped off the table.”

💬 “My groomer keeps asking for reviews. It’s so annoying.”

💬 “I only leave Google reviews when I’m unhappy.”

💬 “She uses scented shampoo, and the smell gives me a headache.”

💬 “My groomer uses hypoallergenic, scent-free shampoo, and my dog smells like a dog!”

💬 “It took three hours? That’s way too long.”

💬 “She finished in an hour, so she must have rushed my dog.”

💬 “She recommended a shorter haircut because my dog was matted. She just didn’t want to do the work.”

💬 “She spent extra time brushing my dog. Why was my bill higher than expected?”

💬 “She said my dog should come every four weeks and that she’s closing her books. She’s just trying to make more money.”

💬 “She’s always accepting new grooming clients to fill her schedule, and now I can’t get an appointment!”

💬 “She doesn’t accept aggressive dogs. A professional groomer should be able to groom every dog.”

💬 “She accepted my aggressive dog, but why did she have to use a muzzle? That’s so mean!”

💬 “She canceled on me because she was sick.”

💬 “My groomer sounded sick today. Why would she come to work and risk getting everyone else sick?”

💬 “My groomer stopped accepting large breeds because she says her back hurts.”

💬 “I can’t get an appointment because my groomer injured her back. Now what??"

💬 " My groomer won't let me stay and watch the groom, she must be doing something bad"

💬 " I stayed for my dogs groom and he looked so anxious and kept moving and trying to get to me, my groomer was struggling to groom him safely, I'll never bring him back"

I rarely ever do dogs like this anymore since I have such a regular rotation of devoted clients, but I like to share for information sake.

Mats are far more than just a simple tangle in your dog’s fur. Many pet owners underestimate how serious they can be. Here’s a clear breakdown of why mats deserve your attention:

Why Mats Are Harmful
1. They pull on the skin.
Mats tighten as they grow, constantly tugging on your dog’s sensitive skin and causing discomfort.
2. They trap bacteria, dead skin, and debris. This creates a perfect environment for infections and unpleasant odors.
3. They cause sores and open wounds underneath.
The constant pressure and friction can lead to painful skin irritation and lesions that you can’t see.
4. They affect movement.
Mats between paw pads or in armpits can restrict motion and alter your dog’s natural gait, leading to long-term posture or mobility issues.
5. They are painful.
Beyond the surface, mats restrict blood circulation. When they’re finally removed, blood can rush back into the area, sometimes causing bruising or hematomas.

The Challenges of Removing Mats

Dealing with mats is never easy, and every removal method comes with trade-offs:
1. Brushing them out takes significant time.
This makes the grooming session much longer and therefore more expensive.
2. Brushing still damages the hair.
Even with proper tools and technique, the hair shafts are often weakened or broken in the process.
3. Cutting them out is risky.
Attempting this at home without professional experience can easily nick your dog’s skin. It also creates patchy “holes” in the coat.
4. Clipping requires a very short cut.
To safely get under the mat, groomers often need to clip very close to the skin (leaving about ¼ inch or less). This is stressful, time-consuming, and can be painful as the mat is tugged during the process.
5. Your dog starts the appointment already stressed.
A matted dog is often uncomfortable, anxious, and less cooperative, making the entire grooming experience more difficult for everyone involved.
Bottom line: Prevention is always better than treatment. Regular brushing, proper tools, and routine professional grooming are the best ways to keep your dog comfortable, healthy, and looking their best. If your dog is already matted, schedule a professional groomer appointment sooner rather than later — the longer you wait, the harder (and more uncomfortable) it becomes.

Heads up but I will be closed to ALL services starting September 13 until Sept 30th!🙅🏻‍♀️

Vacay starts in 5 weeks cuz the mountains are calling and we must go!!🏔️🚙💨

I will be filling in all grooming appts up until then, and for the couple weeks after, and the majority will be those who stay on a rotating schedule. There may be a few spots for randoms so if you know FiFi or Fido will need a spot between the last week of August and last week of October, get with me. I'm currently filled up until Aug 25th as it is😅

I'm super excited as this will be our "Mom and me in the mountains" trip during the leaf peep season and elk rut🤩⛰️🍂🦌

It's a long overdue getaway as it's been a whole year since I took any time off😮‍💨
