Dorothy better have Toto on a leash!
A new update from the SPC will come in overnight as will newer model runs. As of this evening though, the SPC maintains an enhanced risk (level 3/5) for severe weather. Damaging winds be the greatest threat, followed by hail, and a 2% tornado risk. New this evening is a marginal risk for excessive rainfall across the Southern Tier and NW Pennsylvania. Timing for the best chance of seeing severe weather across WNY will be be between 2-6pm. With the cold front following between 8-11pm. A lake shadow off of Lake Erie will likely limit severe potential near the immediate shoreline and in the area extending from Buffalo to Rochester. Severe weather is not guaranteed tomorrow but there is an enhanced risk for severe weather. We don't post this as hype or to scare people but to inform the public about the risk. We will be live at some point tomorrow as we plan on chasing in Ohio where the severe weather risk is greatest. Make sure you have a way of getting warnings tomorrow should a severe thunderstorm or tornado warning be issued. More updates to come in the morning!
