Let us tell you about this gorgeous girl!

Evie is a young husky around 1.5 y/o. Evie loves her toys, especially the squeaky ones and would be great at learning new tricks! She is good and playful with other dogs with a proper introduction. We have yet to cat test her but we will soon and we assume she could adjust to a kitty in the home with time and patience.

She is your classic husky and likes to talk back especially when you are a few minutes late at dinner time. If you're looking for a well mannered but energetic companion Evie is for you! She is currently on foster and will be spayed in a few days, so she is looking for her forever family to come get her soon.

Mercy is currently on foster but will have to come back to the shelter this Friday as this foster could only keep her this month. Mercy is great with other dogs and even good with cats! She is potty trained and loves to rip up toys and go for rides. This sweet girl needs a forever home or even a foster until she gets adopted to keep her out of the shelter. She is spayed and up to date on all vaccines.

A happy Easter from the shelter animals to everyone! All our shelter animals got some special treats, toys, picture time and an egg hunt for the dogs.

Some of these guys like Otto are still available for adoption and some will be available soon!

Looking for a spunky and loving companion? Introducing Mercy, a spayed female Pitbull mix around 5-6 years old.

This lovely lady is currently on foster for the month and has been doing amazing. Mercy has met multiple new dogs and even a few kitty friends! She is wonderful and playful with other dogs and does well with cats as she ignores them and keeps her distance. Mercy listens very well, has worked hard on her manners, and has come very far! This spunky girl loves her toys and bones of course, she loves attention and laying in bed with her people. Mercy would be a great addition to any home, she's just happy to be loved

We are pleased to announce that we are teaming up with Maine Animal Health Alliance to offer low cost spay and neuter cat clinics for our community.
The clinics will be held once a month from April through October. In order to reserve a spot you must fill out a form on our website at Responsiblepetcare.org under Resources or by clicking this link https://form.jotform.com/rpccanineadoption/cat-spay-or-neuter-clinic

These clinics are first come first serve with limited spots. If you don't make this one, you will be contacted with the next available dates. Fees include: procedure, rabies and distemper vaccine, nail trim plus a flea treatment.

*Unfortunately at this time, we do not have vouchers to offer. *

We always say every cat we get is perfect, and while that is very true, you can't get much more perfect than Pip here! Pip is a spayed female around 4 years old. She is great with other cats and could easily warm up to a cat-friendly dog. Pip is also great with kids! This lovely girl has a chill demeanor but is very social and would be great in any family big or small. Pip would love a family to cuddle with all day and maybe even a cat tower of her own.

Nala's face when I tell her we are almost out of cat food! We are running low on a few things for the dogs and cats. As you can tell Nala isn't very happy about this! If anyone is able to donate an item or two, even if it's been used, the animals and us would greatly appreciate it. We are low on:

-Blankets for dogs and cats
-towels
-sheets and pillow cases
-Purina dry cat food
-Iams dry cat food
-dog and cat toys
-13-gallon trash bags

Most of these items can be found on our Amazon wishlist. Donations can be dropped off outside the shelter door or the public safety building on Franklin Street, and can also be dropped off with the transfer station workers in their office!

Nala is still available for adoption and has had no applications turned in! This sweet girl is around 1 1/2 and waiting for her furever home.

Our boy!!

Though Otto here a Shepard mix may be 13 years old, he sure doesn’t let that slow him down! This spunky boy is desperately in need of a forever home as he has been in 3 different shelters in just 2 years... Otto is now at the Bucksport Animal Shelter and is looking for his own people who will give him love and treats of course! He is a talkative boy and loves to be next to people and LOVES water!! Otto needs to be in an only pet home as he likes having all of the attention! He will need an owner who is experienced with shepherds and someone who will give him lots of time to get used to being in a home as it’s been so long since he’s lived in one.

UPDATE: the goose has been caught and is in foster at a farm while we search for the owners

There has been a loose goose hanging around the area of 1122 Silver Lake Road (Bucksport) for a few days now. It seems to be a domesticated goose, if you are missing a goose or may know whose it is please contact ACO Bishop 207-307-8090
