Some of you may have heard by other means, but Wilmer passed away on Jun 8th at 3:30am.
After his back surgery and making some good progress during the following weeks, his condition quickly deteriorated until the evening Jun 7th when we could see that he was in considerable pain. Many thanks to our good friends: Ann Sanders and Dr. Eric Jayne for your support and guidance.
We received confirmation today that Wilmer had a form of cancer called Hemangiosarcoma which effects dogs and sometimes cats. During his all too short a time with us, Wilmer made some great friends and leaves a lasting impression.
I miss him terribly.
Regards, Steven Fay

Discharged today at 11:30. We have a special sling that goes under his belly which they call GingerLead that allows Steven(Daddy) to hold up his back end while he sniffs around and walks with his front legs. He's home now. Thirsty as all get out. Ate some tuna in oil (to help with meds caused constipation) and some roasted chicken. Tammy(Mommy) get the fun task of expressing his bladder. We're doing physical therapy or P.R.O.M. (dancing) Physical Range Of Motion (think peddling an air cycle while on his side). Tomorrow we'll be practising more standing (in the sling) to strenthen his legs and to remind his brain how to work those legs and keeping his pads on the floor (rather than his knuckles). Kinda like having new born baby - "what does his current crying indicate that he needs? Food, Water, Draining, Pain Relief..." Lots of napping.

We went to the discharge appointmnt and learned that Wilmer is suffering seizures. The hope is that these are temporary as a reaction to the anesthesia. Discharge rescheduled for tomorrow - another night in Resplendent Russellville, AR.

CT Scan confirmed a ruptured disc in his lower spine. Subsequent surgery reported successful by Dr Dew, whom we've subsequently learned is renown statewide for these procedures. We will see Wilmer tomorrow & expect recovery to be slow.

Wilmer needs your prayers & best wishes just now. He's got some rear leg paralysis. We're in Russellville seeing a specialist. He's in the queue for CT scan right now.

I (Wilmer) can't vote, but if I could...
