Buckeye's Missions and Sanctuary We are a dog boarding/daycare and a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that rescues homeless, abandoned & neglected dogs.

We rehabilitate these animals and prepare them for adoption. Buckeye's Missions and Sanctuary is a full pet service. We offer boarding, daycare, grooming and training. Proceeds from all pet services go towards the care of our rescue dogs and cats, maintaining our sanctuary, and funding our rescue. We operate our pet service and rescue out of our 2.75 acre property called Buckeye's Sanctuary. The s

anctuary serves as a home for our rescue dogs until they find their forever families. We also have cats in our rescue, but they are in foster homes across Northeast, Ohio. Buckeye was a homeless dog rescued from the Cleveland Animal Care and Control on November 15th, 2014. He was loved by his family but unfortunately passed away suddenly and unexpectedly from a heart condition on May 7th 2015. His family started this project as a promise and commitment to Buckeye to rescue homeless dogs. To read more about Buckeye, please visit our website. We are seeking a dependable Handyman/Handywoman to maintain the safety and functionality of our dog rescue. This energetic role involves performing a variety of work functions. Landscaping, mowing, pool cleaning, and general maintenance tasks will be performed to ensure that the inside building and outside grounds are well-kept and safe for people and dogs. The ideal candidate will be a detail-oriented self-starter who cares about the appearance and functionality of the workspaces. This is a year-round on call/as needed position.

Responsibilities

Perform landscape maintenance including painting walls, mowing lawns, trimming shrubs, and maintaining grounds around the business. You will be required to use hand tools and power tools.
Carry out general repairs around the property including fixing fences, gates, lighting fixtures, or other structures.
Use landscaping equipment and hand tools efficiently to carry out maintenance tasks safely and effectively.
Need to be able to lift 60lb, bend, climb ladders etc.
Assist with seasonal tasks such as leaf removal, snow shoveling, or planting to keep grounds usable and accessible year-round.
Canopy and table set up for events may be required.
Work environment at times may be loud and noisy.

This sweet girl melts every time you kiss or cuddle her❤. She immediately flops down on her back for belly rubs so she can maximize the affection! How adorable is that?! She is a sucker for cuddlers. Kennedy is content to just chill and hang out with you and be the neighborhood watchers. Now, she will bark if she feels people are coming too close into her space. Just a ‘hey, what do you think you’re doing’ bark. She does the same if she is out in the yard and she senses intrusions like a bird flying over and some strong smells. Nothing ‘aggressive’, just her German Shepherd genes coming on display. Alert bark, if you will. Out on a walk, Kennedy walks wonderfully. She may pull initially from excitement, but as the walk progresses, she eases into a nice, comfortable walk. She stops when you stop walking. She pays attention to what you stopped for and follows suit. She sits beside you and waits for you to do what you stopped to do. Here and during her walks, Kennedy stays alert to her surroundings. A little reassurance from you and she will relax😊 Kennedy is wonderful with dogs. She is friendly with just about any dog, any size. If you are a fan of outdoor patio dining, Kennedy is amazing. She is also wonderful in a large crowd, festival style gathering. And oh, she loves car rides!

Kennedy is 7 months old, 60lb Shepsky. She is looking for a family where hugs and cuddles are abundant 😊A family with older children who will engage with her or involve her in their activities would be wonderful. A playful family pup is a plus! A fenced yard is preferred.

This girl is like a ray of sunshine! Mystique brightens your day whenever she is in the room 😊Her favorite thing to do is make the rounds, jumping up (paws on shoulders) to greet. Oh yes, we’re talking European style, cheek kissing. We are trying to show her that this style is not universally accepted 😊She is learning that keeping all 4 paws on the ground during a meet will get her just as much attention! Like her brother Hercules, Mystique is very loving and affectionate with her humans. She loves to come into your space to cuddle but unlike Hercules, she does not linger. She goes off and does her thing when she’s had enough. That said, if she sees another dog getting attention, she inserts herself in the middle of it. This girl has FOMO. Mysti is wonderful with dogs. Every dog is a friend 😊She still has a lot of playful energy, especially when she is fresh out of a crate. Mysti is not much of a crate fan. She tolerates it but prefers to be out, chilling with humans and dogs. Oh, do watch her outside. She is a digger. Despite her energy and playfulness, Mysti walks rather well. She pulls at first but will settle into a nice pace.

Mystique is 10 months old, 45lb Retriever mix. She is looking for a semi-active home. A home with older or teenaged kids and dogs who will engage with her will be perfect. A fenced yard is preferred.
