🐾 Loyalty Runs Deep: What Your Cat or Dog Might Say If You Went to a Different Groomer 🛁

Dog Version:

"Excuse me... WHO touched my paws?!"

"I sniffed the place. It didn’t smell like cookies. Or love."

"New groomer? Wow. Betrayal smells like cheap shampoo."

"I smiled through it, but I’m telling Grandma."

Cat Version:

"Unfamiliar hands dared touch my royal fur?"

"They didn’t even ask before brushing my tail. The audacity."

"I shall be shedding revenge for days."

"You’ll find a gift in your shoe. You’ll know why."

In Episode 23 of *The Knowledgeable Pet Owner*, hosts Chrissy, Lisa, and Denise discuss the downsides of "Groomer Hopping"—changing your pet’s groomer frequently. They highlight how pets thrive on routine and feel more comfortable with a consistent groomer who understands their unique needs and preferences. Switching groomers can cause stress and disrupt this comfort, making grooming sessions more challenging. The hosts also share tips on coordinating with secondary groomers for traveling pets to ensure smoother transitions. Overall, the episode emphasizes sticking with the same groomer or facility for your pet’s well-being and ease.

🐱 Cat Sniffles or Something More? URI vs. Allergies 🐾

Cats can show similar signs for both—here’s how to tell the difference:

🔸 Sneezing & Coughing

Infection: Frequent sneezing, sometimes a soft or wet cough.

Allergy: Occasional sneezing or dry cough, usually seasonal or environmental.

🔸 Eye & Nose Discharge

Infection: Watery, yellow, or green discharge from nose or eyes.

Allergy: Watery eyes or mild clear nasal discharge.

🔸 Fever & Lethargy

Infection: Common—fever, low energy, loss of appetite.

Allergy: Rarely causes fever or extreme fatigue.

🔸 Itching & Skin Issues

Infection: Not typical.

Allergy: May cause itching, scratching, ear problems, or over-grooming.

🔸 Other Signs

Infection: Conjunctivitis, nasal congestion, drooling, or ulcers (in severe cases).

Allergy: Facial rubbing, sneezing fits, digestive upset (in food allergies).

🔸 See a Vet If:

Your cat has colored discharge, fever, or stops eating.

Breathing sounds raspy or labored.

Symptoms linger or you notice facial swelling or skin irritation.

🐾 Bottom Line:
Upper respiratory infections often cause fever, colored discharge, and low energy. Allergies tend to involve itching, sneezing, and watery eyes—with no fever. Always best to let your vet take a look! 💛
