Congratulations to the Marx Family on the acquisition of Derby! Derby has made quite a name for himself in the Northeast as he has carried his previous riders to many successes in Begginers, Short Stirrup and beyond. While he is a master show pony, the best thing about Derby is his award winning personality- full of pep, love and a little witticism!
Derby is leased and loved by the Castle Family. Clare Castle and Derby will be unstoppable in the Short Stirrup this summer and Maeve will be following along in her sister’s footsteps in the Walk Trot.
There is no better pony in the world for Ada Marx to grow up on and as she steps into lead line for the first time. With this line up of horse girls, Derby is going to be the most loved pony!
Thank you Deb Sullivan and Martha Masters for trusting us. Your efforts in making sure that that he found the best fit for the next part of his story, shows just how special he was to you. He already means the world to us!

Without further ado, we would like to congratulate the Dahl Family on the purchase of Salome B. This sweet and beautiful mare is a perfect match for Riley Dahl as she continues to advance in her junior riding career.
Salome B is an imported Hanoverian mare originally bred in Germany. Salome was brought over to the US to continue her remarkable breeding lines. After foaling a few beauties, she is now continuing to develop as an equitation horse.
Be on the lookout for this pair this summer as they are truly a beautiful sight to see!

A few weeks ago, we had the privilege of having Kirsten Malacarne with us for a weekend! There was so much to be learned both inside and outside the ring and each horse and rider pair made huge strides! Grace Stables is forever grateful to have a friend and mentor in Kirsten- who is not just a professional rider but a horsewoman that puts the horse first and the sport second.

Snowman, the once-forgotten plow horse who rose to fame as a champion show jumper, was far more than just an extraordinary athlete—he was a beloved member of his family. After being rescued from a slaughterhouse by Dutch immigrant and riding instructor Harry de Leyer in the 1950s, Snowman quickly proved himself not only gentle and intelligent but deeply affectionate toward the de Leyer children.

Around the family’s Long Island farm, Snowman was known for his calm temperament and patient nature. The children would climb all over him, braid his mane, and even ride him ba****ck to the nearby pond. Unlike many competition horses who lived apart from daily family life, Snowman shared their world completely—he pulled sleds in winter, carried the kids to school, and followed them around the yard like a faithful dog.

His bond with the children reflected his gentle spirit and gratitude for the second chance he’d been given. To them, Snowman wasn’t just a horse who won ribbons; he was a friend and protector. Even after achieving fame, he remained the same kind, steady companion who had stolen their hearts.

Snowman’s story reminds us that greatness doesn’t just come from talent—it comes from love, trust, and the quiet bonds that grow between animals and the children who cherish them.

While Emily has been a familiar face this entire summer, we are so happy that she has accepted the position as Assistant Barn Manager! Emily is currently in her first year at Siena college where she is majoring in Business. When she is not in class, Emily will be at Grace three days a week helping our barn run smoother than ever. With her diverse equestrian experience, attention to detail and incredible sprit- each horse and human will be better off with Emily in their life! In addition to our horses’ basic care and management of veterinary and farrier services, here are some ideas she has already set forth:
• Making the holiday party better than ever!
• A blanket system that has designated tags for each horse and layer!
• A monthly emailed newsletter that has chore shifts and barn updates!
• Getting Max back into work! (He’s her favorite 🤍)

How lucky are we to have such a wonderful future leader in our barn?!
