Meet Axel. Previously known as Fred
Axel is a handsome one year old German Shepherd who is looking for a very specific kind of home. Finding the right fit for him is important.
Axel is a people-loving, affectionate boy who would happily spend his days right beside his person. He loves attention, enjoys being included, and is happiest when he can stay close to the people he trusts. He also does well with children.
Axel was recently returned from a foster home after an incident with the resident dog. While Axel can interact appropriately with other dogs, he has shown that he does not do well sharing his person or home with another dog. When he becomes jealous, conflicts can escalate quickly.
For that reason, Axel needs to be the only dog in the home. He is looking for a family who wants one dog to spoil, one dog to train, and one dog to have by their side.
His foster family reports that Axel is fully house trained, knows basic commands, and is very affectionate. He has some separation anxiety and would prefer to be with his people rather than left alone for long periods. He also does not enjoy being crated or kenneled.
Axel can be a bit opinionated about certain things. He isn't a fan of the groomer, especially nail trims, and he has little interest in treats, bones, or human food. He also isn't particularly fond of the mailman.
He has managed to get out of the yard a few times, but rather than taking off, Axel has stayed close by and has even run right back inside when his person opened the front door.
