As you celebrate spooky season, here’s a friendly reminder from your H.E.A.L. family to keep Halloween treats out of curious paws:

Chocolate is toxic to dogs and cats especially dark chocolate, baking chocolate, and cocoa powder.

Sugar-free candy and gum may contain xylitol, a sweetener that is highly toxic to dogs.

Candy wrappers can be dangerous if swallowed, so keep those tucked away, too!

If your pet may have eaten chocolate or something containing xylitol, call us immediately. If we’re closed, contact an emergency veterinary hospital right away. Don’t wait for symptoms even if your pet seems fine and never induce vomiting unless directed by a veterinary professional.

This adorable Chinese Box Turtle stopped by HEAL for his routine exotic wellness visit! Along with a full nose-to-tail checkup, he got a little spa treatment a precision beak and nail trim to keep him looking and feeling his absolute best. We have to mention what a sweet and incredibly patient little guy he was throughout his visit!
