📚🐾 – Bark to School Edition! 🐾📚

It’s Bark to School time here at BRHS, and our supply list is looking a little different than the average classroom’s. We’re in need of:

📁 2-pocket paper folders – We use these to create individual charts for every animal in our care, helping us keep track of their medical history, behavior notes, and adoption progress.

📄 Printer paper – Because between adoption packets, medical records, and event flyers, we go through it faster than a puppy through a chew toy!

Donations can be dropped off at the shelter or shipped directly to us (120 W 2nd St S, Brookings, SD 57006). Every folder and sheet of paper helps us stay organized so we can give our animals the best care possible!

Ope! We missed yesterday, but the needs didn’t take a break! 🧻 We are completely out of paper towels — and if you’ve ever cleaned up after animals, you know how fast we go through them!

Also, we had a new doggo come in yesterday who requires a special diet we don’t currently have on hand: Science Diet or Purina Pro Plan Sensitive Skin & Stomach — small bites preferred. 🐾

If shopping isn’t your thing, gift cards to Walmart or Runnings are super helpful too and we can pop out and get the right food!

Thank you City of Brookings Government - stay safe everyone!

🐶🐈 We know you love your pets and want to keep them safe. For that reason, your pets are welcome to come with you to Brookings' designated Storm Shelter. The will open at 6:00 PM this evening. 🕕

📍 The shelter is in the basement of the Brookings City & County Government Center at 520 Third St. in Downtown Brookings (across the street to the south of the Brookings Public Library).

Below is the Storm Shelter Pet Policy:
A. Pets will be allowed in the City and County Government Building Emergency Shelter.
B. Pet owners or other responsible parties shall be responsible for pets being kept, maintained, possessed, under control, or in an animal enclosure at all times.
C. Dangerous animal(s) or animal(s) that pose a reasonable threat to the health, safety, and welfare of other emergency shelter human or pet occupants will not be permitted in the emergency shelter.
D. The emergency shelter administrator will have sole discretion on removal of any pet or animal in the emergency shelter based on reasonable threat to the health, safety, and welfare of other emergency shelter human or pet occupants.
