BARC Rescue Oklahoma

BARC Rescue Oklahoma BARC Rescue is a no-kill shelter dedicated to rescuing and finding caring homes. Join us in making a difference. Thank you for your support. Barcrescue.org

Our mission is to provide care and second chances—turning stories of hardship into tales of hope. Broken Arrow Rescue Community (“BARC”), is a nonprofit, no-kill, volunteer dog rescue organization serving the homeless pets of Oklahoma. At BARC, we strive to rescue homeless pets regardless of the circumstance, but place great emphasis on saving shelter pets in danger of being euthanized. Once rescu

ed, we undertake a rigorous process to find our pets a permanent home with a loving, responsible and committed family. To do so, we utilize a comprehensive adoption process that includes vetting the potential adopters as well as educating potential adopters on the responsibilities/seriousness of pet ownership. By doing so, we hope to ensure our pets will never have to face the situation that lead them to us in the first place. All animals in our care are spayed and neutered and receive any and all necessary veterinarian treatment and are placed in nurturing foster homes until they are ready to find their forever home. At BARC, it is our mission to provide unwavering care and treatment for all animals, regardless of age, breed or other characteristics. Furthermore, we remain committed to the well-being of our rescued pets even beyond the adoption process. To accomplish our goal of providing homeless and at need animals with a second chance, we strive to continuously foster relationships with area shelters and other rescue organizations to develop the network of support necessary to make our mission of providing a better life to pets in need an attainable goal. Barc Broken Arrow Rescue Corp. is a 501(c)(3) animal rescue group, incorporated Feb. 15, 2017.

🇺🇸 4th of July is just around the corner. 💥 Here is a friendly reminder: please try not to lose your pet. Pets currently at the shelter are put down first when they fill up. Those dogs need valuable time to get adopted when the influx of new ones occurs. Please help the rescues and shelters by being careful and keeping them safe. Now is the time to get anti-anxiety meds if your pet struggles. It's a scary time of year for some pets. 🇺🇸

Update… we just received this message,
Pappy‘s bill is covered.
“Hey there!
My name is Jodi and I am reaching out on behalf of the foundation Running For Rescues. We called up and paid the remainder of Pappys bill today.
Thanks for all you do!”

Pappy is sick and is currently at the veterinary clinic. The veterinarian estimates that $300 will be required for X-rays to diagnose pneumonia. Pappy is receiving medical treatment, including medication, to aid in his recovery.
Would everyone be willing to contribute towards Pappy's rescue and care?
Pappy and I would be so grateful.
Every dollar matters. Thank you!

You can also help by calling the vet directly to donate at 918-455-7107 for Pappy on the BARC rescue account or….

More bad news.

Remember Charlie — the dog due to have puppies in two days? The same dog the City of Bixby told me to leave on the street because they refused to pick her up since they don’t have a shelter? This happened after they forced us out of our building for allegedly not having a kennel license or Department of Agriculture license — requirements that other rescues housing dogs in Bixby are not being held to.
What I never told everyone is this: a false report was made to the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture claiming I was over the legal limit of dogs in the building. I was NOT. I have the report. It specifically mentions Bixby Animal Control Officer Tommy Matthews, and I do not believe for one second he acted without the knowledge or approval of city leadership. If anyone wants to see the report, message our page and I will provide a copy.

Since all of this happened, donations have dropped significantly. The rumors, social media comments, and attacks on my credibility damaged not only me personally, but the rescue and the dogs we’re trying to save. There were times I truly did not know how I was going to provide Charlie and her puppies with what they needed.

We took her to the vet this morning to spay her,
Charlie is heartworm positive and desperately needs help. By taking her in, we have likely saved Bixby taxpayers thousands of dollars in care and animal control costs, but instead of support, we’ve faced roadblock after roadblock.
I’m done staying quiet while leadership continues to fail both the citizens and the animals in this community. I could say much more about how we were treated and the things said publicly to make us look like an illegitimate rescue, but today is not about that.

Today is about Charlie.

Please consider donating so we can continue caring for Charlie, her puppies, and get her the heartworm treatment she desperately needs. Every dollar matters right now.
