Hi everyone. I wanted to share something important with you, and I hope you’ll read this with understanding and kindness. Starting immediately, there will be a $15 holding fee for pups who are not picked up within 15 minutes after their groom is finished. After 30 min, there will be an additional $10 fee. There will always be a 15-minute grace period, but after that time the fee will apply. We simply cannot hold pups for extended periods, so if you live outside of Brodhead, please let us know so we can give you enough of a heads up.
I want to be completely honest, I truly do not want to implement any fees. It actually bothers me a lot to even have to make this change. This isn’t about the fee itself. My hope is that by having one in place, pups will be picked up in a timely manner so no one ever has to pay it. It’s simply meant to encourage smoother transitions throughout the day and keep everything running comfortably for all dogs.
Here are the main reasons this has become necessary:
• We do not have the kennel space to hold dogs for long periods of time once they’re finished. Our space is limited and we want every pup to be safe and comfortable.
• Some pups become very anxious in the kennel, which can lead to excessive barking or stress. This creates a chaotic environment for the other dogs who are trying to stay calm during their grooms or baths.
• If it’s our last appointment for the day, we’d like to wrap everything up once done and leave. While we love your pups dearly, we also have families to get home to. As the owner, my workday continues long after I walk out the door. I still have photos to create, messages to respond to, dinner to cook, and my own fur babies waiting for me. Going home when we close is very important to me.
I hope you all know this isn’t coming from frustration, it’s coming from a place of wanting to keep our salon running smoothly, lower stress for the dogs, and respect everyone’s time on both sides of the grooming table.
