✨ Have you ever found tiny wispy knots in your horse’s mane and wondered how they got there? ✨
I’ve heard different versions of why this happens and every morning for the last three years I find these in Montana reds mane which after looking in the folklore behind it I’d like to believe this is true and out of all the horses at the barn this gelding would be the one to help - read below.
Long before we knew they were often caused by wind, rolling, and rubbing, people believed these little tangles were “fairy knots.”
According to centuries-old European folklore, fairies would borrow horses during the night, twisting their manes into tiny reins before riding beneath the moonlight. By morning, the mysterious knots were left behind as proof of their magical adventure.
