Wonderful souls waiting to love you.

What do Poppy, Fern, Duke, and Memphis have in common? ๐Ÿค”

They are all residing in foster homes AND are all ready for adoption! The benefit of adopting a pet who is living in a foster home is knowing more about how they do in a home environment and in different situations outside of the shelter.

RHSPCA currently has 19 fantastic foster dogs ready for adoption. To meet with an animal in foster, simply fill out an adoption application online. We'll reach out to schedule a meet & greet from there to see if it's the right fit! www.rhspca.org/adopt

Not quite ready to adopt? Consider fostering! We have nearly 60 dogs eligible for foster placement, and we'll work with you to find the right match. www.rhspca.org/foster

๐Ÿ’™ URGENT - DOG FOSTERS NEEDED ๐Ÿ’™

We have received 130 more dogs so far in 2024 than we did by this time in 2023, and have nearly 140 dogs in our care. For perspective, our shelter only houses 70.

While we are hopeful that adoptions will increase, at this point we have no choice but to continue to plead for fosters for adult dogs, and move as many into foster homes as possible.

The dogs pictured (Ranger, Sadie, Laika, and Cardi) are among the highest priority to get out of the shelter for kennel stress related reasons. However, all of their friends also need foster homes. And they have 66 friends on site. We will help you find the right match!

If you have never fostered before, and you are available to temporarily house a dog (even if only for a week or two), please submit this application:

https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/foster/RHVA/Dog

If you are an existing RHSPCA foster and you are available to foster a dog, short term or long term, please text (540)820-5505.

๐Ÿ‘‰ Please share - we need help from our community!

For over a year we have BEGGED for someone to give Simba a chance, because he REALLY deserves it after everything he's been through.
Unfortunately, like everyone else in his life, I've failed him. I have not been able to find a foster, adopter, trainer, rescue, or sanctuary that can help him.
I've never had to euthanize a dog with mild behavior issues just because we ran out of options, but that's where we are. Normally, I would bring him home and try to help or atleast give him a few days of being spoiled and loved inside a home but that's not an option. My leg is broken in five places, we have 7 dogs, and two young children.
I'll tell you what he needs and how you can help. If you aren't here to help, then CARRY ON, because I will not tolerate nasty or ignorant comments.
Needs:
To be the only pet.
A home without young children.
Extensive physical and mental stimulation daily.
A routine.
A fenced in yard.
An experienced and patient owner/handler.
Decompression time and a training program.
How you can help:
FOSTER (must meet the needs listed above).
Contact other rescues and sanctuaries.
Share.

Tag.
We have until TUESDAY 6/18 to find another miracle for Simba. He's located in Virginia but can be transferred ANYWHERE to an appropriate home or program.
When Simba was being abused at our local shelter and was just days away from being killed EVERYONE was on his side but the moment he was moved into boarding he was forgotten. His reels have had over 100k views and we still don't have one single application.
If you can help email me at [email protected] with SAVE SIMBA in the headline.
If you can't help and have something negative to say, I'll reiterate this is NOT the place for it.
