Attention Equine Owners: We are aware of the neurologic form of EHV-1 in New York and Florida, as well as other states. EHV-1 is a reportable disease to the state veterinarian, and we are monitoring the situation closely.

It is recommended that stables implement biosecurity precautions, especially if their horses have recently traveled or were exposed to horses that have traveled.

Equine Herpesvirus (EHV-1) is spread from horse to horse through contact with nasal discharge or spread as aerosol droplets. Horses can also contract the virus by coming into contact with contaminated surfaces such as stalls, water, feed, tack, transport vehicles, handlers, etc.
