HTAT is a cageless adoption center for adult cats & kittens offering free TNR & cat behavior help, a pet food pantry & a spay/neuter program to residents in Brimfield, Holland, Palmer, Monson, Southbridge, Sturbridge, Wales, Ware & Warren, MA. WHO WE ARE:

people in our community. WHAT WE DO:
HTAT operates a cage-free cat shelter in Brimfield, MA, and has several community assistance programs to help families keep their pets. We run a Pet Food Pantry, help people find and pay for spay/neuter surgeries for their pets, and help adopters of special-needs cats pay for their cats' medical treatments. We partner with fellow community members to maintain healthy outdoor cat populations by humanely trapping community cats, spaying or neutering them, and then returning them to their outdoor home. WHY WE DO IT:
We believe that pets are family, and we want to keep families together.

This is how we show up for cats like Velcro.

Velcro is such a hunk of a cat. His big cheeks and charming swag have won us over for sure, but getting him to "ready to be adopted" was no picnic.

He was supposed to be an easy adoption. Super affectionate, loves people, generally a great companion.

Then his mild cat flu turned into a chronic health concern. Then he started vomiting on a regular basis. We needed more tests to figure out exactly what was wrong.

No way were we giving up on him.

After weeks of tests and trying different treatments, we were able to stabilize his health. But we can only do that because of people like you, who love cats as much as we do and understand that not every cat's road to adoption is a simple one.

When you donate to HTAT, you're directly supporting cats like Velcro. Their medication, their vet visits, and yes, even the treats and toys that keep them occupied while they wait.

LAST DAY OF OUR FEE-WAIVED ADOPTION EVENT

We're thrilled that some of our cats found homes this week, but today might be the best day yet, because you can come visit them in person without an appointment!

Stop by from 1 to 4 pm to watch them in action and, hopefully, fall in love.

A few reminders before you come:

Spirit cats are purrfect companions if you're not often home. They'll keep your cat company without needing constant attention themselves.

We also have a few cats with chronic health issues. Our Purrfect Support program covers 50% of their vet bills, so you can focus on loving them instead of worrying about the cost.

Every cat leaves us fully equipped: up to date vaccinations, deworming, antiparasitic treatment, a microchip, spay or neuter, and a negative FeLV test. That's over $400 in vet care included.

And here's the part we love most. When you adopt from us, you're not just saving that cat's life. You're opening a spot for another cat who might not get a second chance elsewhere. Two lives saved for the price of one adoption. That's the best deal we know of.

We're at it again: adoption fees are waived today and tomorrow!

Our biggest hope and dream? Every cat finding a home. We can't find one for every cat in the world (though wouldn't that be nice), but we would be overjoyed to help as many of our current residents find homes this weekend.

We have cats for everybody. Playful kittens like Tom Nook. Handsome hunks like Velcro, who just wants to give you kisses (a lot of them). And senior divas like Zen, who knows exactly what she wants.

To help them all find their people, we're proud to partner with and to offer fee-waived adoptions until tomorrow.

If one of our cats catches your eye (Violet is a beauty, trust us!), reach out to set up a meeting, or stop by during our opening hours tomorrow from 1 to 4 pm.

ADOPTION FEE WAIVED: Meet Echinacea.

This is her second time with us, and none of it has been her fault.

Echinacea originally came from a home where unsterilized cats had led to far too many kittens under the same roof, many of whom ended up at Dakin Humane. Given her more sensitive nature, the shelter environment was hard on her, so she was transferred to us, where she could move around freely and be with other cats, her true comfort zone.

She found a home after that. But her new family developed severe allergies, and Echinacea came back to us through no fault of her own. We were happy to see her again, but we're hoping this time is the one where she finds real stability.

Echinacea would do well in a quiet home with other cats around her.

Thanks to the ASPCA and , her adoption fee is waived until this Saturday, August 29th. We hope this helps her find her family!

Meet Mickey.

This 3-year-old beauty will enchant you with her big, round yellow eyes, but don't expect her to be all over you. Mickey is one of our Spirit Cats, cats who live life on their own terms. She might come say hello from time to time, but attention on demand? Not her style. Mickey prefers a quiet home where she can live a peaceful life. Honestly, who can't relate to that?

We take in independent cats like Mickey because we believe no cat should be forced into a human's idea of how a cat "should" act. She's an individual, with her own preferences about how she wants to live, and we think that deserves respect, not a shelter cage.

Mickey would thrive with patient, kind people in a quiet household. She'd also make a wonderful companion for another cat. If your current cat could use a buddy but your schedule doesn't leave much time for a needier pet, Mickey would be grateful for a safe place to call home.

Here's the timing: thanks to ASPCA's , from the 26th to the 29th of August, adoption fees are waived. That means an "all-inclusive" cat, vaccinated, dewormed, spayed, microchipped, without spending a dime.

Some say losing a pet can hit even harder than losing certain family members.

It makes sense when you think about it. They are often the first ones to greet us in the morning, sometimes the ones waking us up in the first place. They stick with us through the good days and the rough ones, good hair days and bad, always happy to see us no matter what kind of day we've had.

Last week, we gathered to celebrate the official commemoration of our Rainbow Bridge. Our volunteers shared stories about the pets who touched them the most, and it got us thinking about all of you.

We want to hear about the ones who left paw prints on your heart.

What was their name? How do you keep their memory alive? A photo on the fridge, a favourite toy you kept, a story you still tell?

Meet our very own little tigress: Violet 🐯

At 8 years old, Violet is one of our senior cats available for adoption. She is a team favorite because she is such a sweetie pie! But, she is having some difficulty finding a home, not because of her personality, but because of her health condition.

Violet suffers from hyperthyroidism, which has caused her to lose weight at an astounding rate. She will be on medication for life to help manage the impacts on her health. But the treatment is simple: one pill, twice a day. Easy peasy.

That's not so bad, right?

Here at HTAT, we want our adopters to focus on giving cats love and affection, not worrying about vet bills. This is why Violet is part of our Purrfect Support program, where we cover 50% of recurring vet bills up to $500 annually.

We don't want Violet missing her chance because of vet bills, she deserves a home like every other cat.

Moe is 6 months old, and today is a pretty big day for this handsome boy—it’s his first day available for adoption!

And now he’s ready to meet the people who might be his family. At 6 months old, Moe still has plenty of kitten energy and curiosity, but he’s also starting to show the personality that will make him such a wonderful companion.

Meet Crabapple, Honey Crisp, and Fuji—three adorable kittens who have been growing, playing, and getting ready for this moment right here at HTAT. Now they’re ready for their **first time available for adoption!**

Crabapple is a sweet little girl, while Honey Crisp and Fuji are handsome little boys. They’re playful, curious, and at that perfect kitten age where there’s always something new to discover—and usually a toy or two to chase along the way!

This will be the first time these three little apples are available to meet their potential families, and we have a feeling they’re going to be very popular. 🍎❤️
