At just 4 years old, Brady is the definition of a sweet, affectionate companion. He loves being around people, soaking up attention, and simply being part of whatever you’re doing. Whether it’s lounging nearby or coming over for pets, he’s happiest when he’s with his humans.

☀️Your donations from our Chewy Wish List make a difference every day ☀️

Food, toys, litter and other essentials help with daily pet care. Staff and volunteers regularly remark how lucky we are for such amazing community support.❤️

Chewy gift cards have been a godsend, allowing us to quickly and easily order special items as needs arise. In the last six months, we’ve been able to order limited ingredient and prescription foods for pets needing particular nourishment and supplements to help sore joints or dry skin.

This past week, those gift cards provided Elayna with a special bed to relax on.

Elayna is a big chewer. While she is provided good chew toys, she also has chewed up bedding which can become dangerous if she ingests material or stuffing.

This week Chewy gift cards bought Elayna a K9 Ballistics bed made for tough chewers! The photos show her first testing it out. This morning staff report this pretty girl seems relaxed and rested!

✨ Meet Domanique ✨

Domanique is a social and affectionate girl who loves being part of the action, often following her people from room to room just to stay close. While she may be a little cautious about touch at first, she shows affection in her own sweet way—confidently greeting people, rubbing against them, and wanting to be nearby.

This talkative lady is playful, food-motivated, and very serious about mealtime! One of her biggest recent milestones has been learning to trust enough to sit in her foster mom’s lap—a beautiful reminder that patience and kindness truly pay off.

Domanique has excellent house manners, including great litter box habits, and is comfortable meeting new people when her boundaries are respected. She has done well with a calm, medium-sized dog and may also do well with calm cats or dogs following a slow introduction.

After struggling in the shelter environment and becoming stressed and unhappy, Domanique moved into foster care where she has truly blossomed. In a calmer setting, her affectionate and playful personality has had the chance to shine.

👀 Domanique also has a mild eye condition that causes her pupils to stay more dilated than normal. The good news is that she currently has no vision loss and does not require medication or treatment. She sees best in typical indoor lighting and may be less comfortable in very bright light or direct sunlight, so she is looking for an indoor-only home where she can stay safe and comfortable.

Domanique is searching for a patient and understanding adopter who will let the relationship grow at her pace. In return, she promises the kind of loyalty and companionship that is truly special. ❤️

📍 Domanique is currently living in foster care and can be met by appointment through Somerset Regional Animal Shelter. Please call the shelter for more information or to schedule a meet-and-greet. Applications and conversations with staff help us ensure the very best match for both Domanique and her future family.

In observance of Memorial Day, the shelter is closed to the public. We open for adoptions tomorrow 12-3:30pm.

🐱 This kitty is Shiloh! He’s a friendly chap who got an extra serving of youthful energy. He’s looking for a person or family that will play with him and provide opportunities to expend his energy (toys, wand toys, cat trees, etc.). He is friendly with some cats but can overwhelm them with his rough-and-tumble play style.

Remember Sakari? 🤍

The dog who was so stressed at the shelter that she was shutting down more and more each day?

Once Sakari was able to leave the shelter and decompress in a foster home, we finally saw the real Sakari emerge. 🌟

Beneath the stress and anxiety of kennel life is an incredibly sweet, affectionate, and intelligent dog who just desperately wants to feel safe.

In her foster home, Sakari has been calm, loving, and well-mannered. She sleeps through the night buried under blankets, loves giving hugs to the people she trusts, and enjoys simple things like car rides, stuffed animals, frisbee, and tug-of-war. She is housebroken, walks nicely on leash, and knows commands like sit, stay, down, and come. She patiently waits for permission before eating and looks to her people for guidance and reassurance. 💗

But Sakari still needs a permanent place to land!

Salari’s temporary foster placement may be ending soon, and we are trying hard to avoid her having to return to the shelter environment that caused her so much emotional stress in the first place.

Please don’t let Sakari be overlooked again. She deserves the chance to continue healing and finally know what stability and love feel like.
