Happy Vet Tech Week to Kendall Smith! Kendall is dog mom extraordinaire to Rhubarb, a gorgeous 2yo Pitty mix that found her way from Tennessee to Connecticut and into Kendall’s heart.
Rhubarb is a regular at doggie daycare where she is quite popular and is often caught on camera striking a pose! On the weekend Rhubarb loves hiking and going to dog parks! Her favorite snacks are carrots, melons, blueberries, frozen eggs, peanut butter and pupsicles. She made her horse show vet dog debut at Devon this year!

Happy Tech Week, Mel Schaffer! Meet Mel’s squad- Kenai, Goose and Hiccup. Kenai is (affectionately) the nosiest husky you’ll ever meet. And despite his behavior at the vet’s office, is a very responsible and upstanding citizen. Goose (Gooseberry) takes life a little less seriously. When not spinning in circles or swimming with koi fish, he’s asking EVERYONE for pets. Hiccup… well it’s unclear if he’s a well trained ninja, MI6 spy or a product of witness protection. Yes you are allowed to admire his looks, but no you’re not allowed to ask him questions or act like you knew he was hiding in the shower curtain.

Happy Tech Week to Kelci Orr and please give the warmest welcome to Watermark’s newest pet, Lee! Maybe you’ve seen this handsome tripod around town in his cat stroller, but he deserves a formal introduction.
After succumbing to mild peer pressure, Kelci adopted Lee on July 10th. Despite only having 75% of the expected limbs, Lee is really good at welcoming Kelci home, playing with his toys at 3am and puking. Lee has yet to sign off on a Pomeranian sleep-over but who better to share a hairball with?

Happy Tech Week, Olivia Grupposo! Olivia is proud pet mom to Milo and Oreo. Many of you know Milo, her sweet if mildly eccentric chihuahua. Outside of work Milo enjoys treat time, couch time and hiking (not that he does the walking). At home is his big brother Oreo, whose outgoing and mischievous personality keeps everyone in the household entertained.

Happy Tech Week! This year, we want to take you behind the scenes to meet the Pets of Tech Week! Olivia Capuano’s best boy is Spike; a black and white Pygmy hippopotamus who she rescued 3 years ago. Spike is best known for his enormous smile, and his sweet, curious nature. He is tremendously popular with the grooms at all of our barns due to his impressive, muscle-bound physique. Outside of work Spike enjoys the beach, playing with small dogs, cuddling on the couch with Olivia, and planning new and exciting ways to test the limits of his pet insurance policy.

📢Important Update for Clients!📢
USEF has updated its medication guidance for two commonly used therapeutic drugs. Effective immediately, Cetirizine (Zyrtec) is now a permitted substance that may be used during competition. A medication report is also no longer required. Methocarbamol (Robaxin) now has revised withdrawal guidance to help competitors avoid positive tests. The changes are intended to reflect current scientific understanding while supporting both horse welfare and fair competition. Use the link below for more information.

Watermark Equine is excited to welcome Kendall Smith to the team!
Kendall, a North Carolina native, developed a passion for horses at age 10. After attending North Carolina State University, she spent a decade working around the world grooming, riding, and managing international FEI show jumping horses. She later shifted her career focus within the industry to align with her interest in veterinary medicine. Outside of work, Kendall enjoys exploring the outdoors with her rescue dog, Rhubarb; listening to true-crime podcasts; spending time with friends and family; writing; and pursuing new hobbies—most recently, birdwatching!
