We are a home for abandoned and unwanted bunnies, where bunnies can live in their bunny way. Teaching proper care, feeding and handling.
Successfully transitioning bunnies to their new home is our goal. Schuff's home for abandoned bunnies is a safe place for bunnies/rabbits to go live their bunny rabbit way. Here the unloved are loved. It all started with a little girl and her love for her bunnies. She adored her bunnies always spending time with them and loving them. It was a contagious love as it spread to me. When the little gir
l grew up and left home her love for the bunnies became my love for the bunnies. Respect and dignity are my gift to a person surrendering a bunny it takes a lot to let a friend go.

To the heartless individual who dumped this defenseless little bunny, it was scared beyond belief but was also an absolute sweetheart. I don't understand how someone can be so cruel to such an innocent bunny. She could have been killed by anything, a passing car, dog loose in the neighborhood, bobcat, cat, heck even a hawk yet instead of considering her safety and at least letting us know, you dumped her to fend for herself. I hope you get everything you deserve in life.

Some days I hate irresponsible humans. Ok most days.
This is what happens to that bunny you turn loose in the park.
Both have injuries from being attacked
Both have extreme urine scald
Both have a severe bladder and bowel infection.
Both are grossly malnourished.
Both were shown love and compassion before being humanly euthanized
My heart aches for what these two never had. Love.

Thank you everyone taking a concern in the temperature in the bunny house. It is a very comfortable 78°. I am so very grateful for the people who built the bunny building.

We watched a storm develop and enter the gulf creating a great hurricane Hurricane Harvey, which then hit Texas. Hurricane Harvey slammed the southern coast, then turned east and headed our way. When it began raining we brought all of the bunnies inside the house. As we hustled 3 neighborhood boys came out of nowhere and helped us to move the bunnies. The water was rising quickly. Water had already flooded the feed shed everything was gone. We left behind cages, it just took too much time to remove cages. As the last of the bunnies were removed from the pen the water was thigh high and rising. When all bunnies had been moved, our rabbit room had now contained 210 bunnies and 1 bag of feed. Safe bunnies, all alive and well. As morning approached, the outside had became a sea of rainwater and still rising. As the rain eased and flooding slowed our nerves settled just a little. When the water began to recede and we assessed the damage we allowed some of the bunnies back in the pen. The very next morning, the water began rising again. Friends showed up and helped move bunnies and cages to their current location. By this time I was running on day 3 of no sleep and very stressed. When I noticed some of the bunnies becoming ill, all I could do was panic. I called one of the other rabbit rescues here in Texas with plans to send out my healthy bunnies, but we were completely blocked in and had no way to send. By this time feed was running low. I was told I was making my babies sick, my heart sunk. I hadnt thought about my stress and how it affects the already stressed buns. After tears and 2 hours sleep I followed the instructions the other rabbit rescue had given me. As I was out managing the bunnies a truck pulled in the drive with a load of feed and hay. Over the next few days we lost many precious bunnies, due to stress. Our original bunny pen collapsed week 3 of flooding. The hurricane bunnies started to come in the day the rain stopped. Twenty seven hurricane bunnies the first week after the flood. So many bunnies kept safe, I am so thankful for everyone that helped us.
A roof over our heads.
After the storm is written in history, and the water is all gone, the building begins. With what we could use from the collapsed bunny pen, we put together a structure for the bunnies. The new pen is drafty and in some places leaky, but it is their new home. I will be doing all I can to get us on our feet and running.
Getting back to normal
Fundraisers and hard work have earned us our First fan. Although it is smaller than we need we will make it work. We just cant wait to get all the fans at once. When we all of the fans, we will be able to finish our fencing.
