Another amazing day train with Lenny! Today we worked on his recall around friends, settling in home, and a puppy adventure to downtown Bangor 🧡

🎆Is this your first Fourth of July with your puppy and you’re not sure how they’ll handle the fireworks? Here’s a helpful video on how to find out! 🐾

A few extra tips:
•Potty and exercise your dog earlier in the day
•Always take them out on a secure leash and collar with their tags attached
•Make sure to have them in a safe quiet room

25 ft of leash to roam and explore and this young boy just chooses me! 🧡

Your relationship with your dog is the single most important thing when it comes to dog training. No matter if I am training my own dog’s or a clients dog, I always want to make sure the pups respect and love me the same way I do for them too. A strong relationship with your dog is the foundation of effective training. When your dog trusts you and feels secure in your presence, they’re more motivated to listen, learn, and follow your lead.

Let’s talk about ways to stimulate your dog when it’s going to be hot out! 🔥☀️

This week we are being blessed with very nice weather but it’s important we keep our furry friends in mind and adjust our stimulation plan for them.

•Keep outdoor training/exercise sessions short. 10-15 mins is enough!

•Practice settling at home. Extra rest time isn’t always a bad thing. Doing nothing is just as important as doing something with our dogs.

•Take them to a dog friendly beach or pool

•Make some frozen snacks for them such as carrots dipped in bone broth, ice cubes with treats in them, frozen peanut butter or yogurt, or anything else they love!

•Give them a puzzle or enrichment activity such as a kong wobbler, snoop, or even just a head of lettuce to shred

•Do a training session indoors. Teach them a fun and simple trick like spin or roll over!

•Take them for a car ride with the windows open and a/c on. This gives them some exposure to smells in the world without over doing it.

•Go to a dog friendly park and sit in the shade for 20 mins

Make sure to limit high intensive activity but find other ways to stimulate their mind and body! Our dogs deserve the best ❤️🐾
