Hey Brevard,

I want to throw out a huge *THANK YOU* to every person who ever shopped at The Grateful Dog. It's been a hot ten years in business, and at least fifteen in the industry, and all I can say is I LOVE THIS TOWN 🩷

Owning the only independent pet store in
Transylvania County has been a privilege and an honor, and it's been part of my whole life as I know it. Customers became friends, and then they became family. Y'all are my heart, and I don't regret a single moment.

That being said, The Grateful Dog is closing for good, under unfortunate circumstances. Please *LIKE AND SHARE* this post so everyone knows. I am still available to help transition customers with their reward points, etc.*

A new tenant will be occupying our location, and there is no affiliation whatsoever. Purrrfect Bark is also an independent pet store with another location, and I can't wait to see what they can provide for our beautiful community, wishing them the best from one business owner to another! Please welcome them with the same enthusiasm you gave The Grateful Dog.

Dear Grateful Dog customers,

We'd like to thank you for your years of unwavering support and loyalty. Over this time, we've made so many heartfelt connections with you and your pets. It's been a decade since opening, and it's been a wild, fun ride. However:

We are currently hoping to change ownership soon. There is no solid timeline or guarantee, and as such we cannot continue to place orders or stay open until we find out. If the purchase goes as planned, The Grateful Dog will reopen for business.

PLEASE read the following to avoid confusion:

If you have a paid item in-store: We are diligently working to deliver these items to you. Please respond to texts or emails from us.


If you paid for an item that hasn't arrived: We are diligently working to fulfill your orders and will be in touch. Please check your spam email and answer texts or calls.


If you called and left a voicemail: We are unable to place orders until we know how the change in ownership goes.


Do you need food? Please contact Pet Source in Hendersonville for orders; if you can't pick up, we'd be glad to deliver it to you. You can send an email to [email protected] requesting this service.

🐶 Possible new ownership 🐱

Big news, y'all. We are (fingers crossed) possibly changing ownership. As such, we will be closed tomorrow and through the next week while I navigate the very messy parts of exiting the business and tie up loose ends.

I apologize for the inconvenience, but with any luck, this will be a very smooth transition. I appreciate how patient all of my customers have been, and can't tell you how much I appreciate every one of you.

We're sure everyone has been wondering what's happening at The Grateful Dog, and we're excited to say that we're in the process of changing things up. We've always focused on your pet's wellness, but we think you should be able to spoil yourself too!

Say hello to our new vendor at Chi EO, who specializes in creating essential oil blends, fire ciders, scrubs, balms, candles, and SO much more, including some breathtaking, custom-designed houseplant creations to bring a little Mother Nature into your home. 🪴

Our goal for 2025 is to expand our product line to include people along with their pets, with a pure focus on locally made and small business items. We know change is hard, and we SO appreciate everyone's patience. 🔥Spoiler alert!🔥 your pet's food isn't going anywhere; a streamlined webpage for ordering is in the works. 👀 In the meantime, we've transitioned to orders via phone or direct message to our Facebook or Email. Orders are ready for pickup on Thursday as always, and the Saturday deadline for the week hasn't changed!

We're so excited to see what the future holds. Change can be hard, but we welcome the journey and can't wait to see what we can offer this beautiful community. 🩷
