Meet Layla and Brandy, two 9.5-month-old Rhodesian Ridgebacks with big personalities. They've got some challenges with reactivity on walks and selective hearing when they get excited. Luckily, they've got a huge yard to burn off energy. I've seen amazing progress in just our second session this week. Their owners are dedicated to consistency and putting in the work. With some tweaks to their obedience skills and walking routine, I'm confident these girls are on the path to success.

As 2025 came to a close, our family reflected on a few milestones - our oldest son graduated high school, while our youngest is now a senior. We've shared countless adventures together, made lasting memories, and navigated health challenges within our extended family. We're grateful for the opportunity to educate our kids and be part of so many families' journeys with their puppies and dogs.

This is Dakota! She’s a 3 yo Greater Swiss Mountain dog. One of our SDW alumni recently adopted her. Dakota is in our Private 1:1 in-home training program. She is in need of house manners, walking skills and her family is working with their vet to resolve some ongoing GI issues. Dakota is a healthy 88lbs and has the best personality.

Here are a few things I shared with her family today. When families adopt an adult dog, there usually is a honeymoon period. This is when the dog is so happy to be with a loving family. They are awesome in the first few days and weeks, because the family that is dependable and routine. Sometimes, as the dog gets more comfortable that’s when we can see the trainable moments emerge. I’m so happy to help her family be successful with her in the coming weeks.

Mocha is a 6 month old boxer. She was asked to leave recently from puppy group classes, because her energy was too wild for the other puppy participants. In our first session, I taught her family how to say “Good girl” and “No” appropriately, and how to say “Good girl” most of the time. We learned some calming skills and talked about Josie training and excited urination. We had a wonderful time together. I look forward to seeing them again next week! Meet Boomer! He’s a 1 year old lab mix. It took him a hot minute to trust us. He has some stranger danger issues and needs some basic foundation/obedience skills. One of his most endearing behaviors…laying behind us on the back of the couch. Lol! We aren’t normally this lenient. However, we were ok with him getting to know us in a behavior he’s used to doing at home. We are getting a kick out of his quirkiness. We already love this dude! As we have built some trust, his walls have come down and he’s learning very quickly.

Gigi is an 8.5 month old Golden retriever. She is in our Puppy Intensive Program. She just finished up her second stay with us, and she ROCKED her take home session. We will continue our work together with in-home training sessions on a schedule.

Gigi’s first stay was in January. My Mama loves Gigi too. Gigi’s housemate Sunny, has been through our program as well. Sunny had surgery, while Gigi was at camp. When Sunny is cleared, we will get back to training with her too. Consistency with walking both, is the goal. We love Sunny and Gigi, and their family.

Winnie is a 3yo yellow lab. Sweet Winnie had prior training, before reaching out to us. Winnie is a bit stubborn and her Mom wanted to refreshen up her skills. She was also interesting in remote collar training, to help with off leash reliability and leash reactivity.

This past weekend, Winnie came to stay with us. We were able to see how much progress she continues to make in her everyday life. She is such a ham!
