We LOVE getting to see pets head out the door with their families! ❤️

None of these happy faces would be possible without the generous help of our friends at Purina. They help us keep tails wagging and bellies full.

Ready to add to your family? When you adopt a pet at the APA, we send you home with a free bag of Purina pet food, and your pet is already spayed or neutered and up to date on vaccinations.

We are so grateful to PEDIGREE Foundation and Humane World for Animals for granting us $20k to support access to care for pet families across the Saint Louis region!

This funding will allow us to provide free preventive veterinary care, emergency pet sheltering during times of crisis, pet food assistance, transportation to vet appointments, and financial assistance for pets in need of critical medical treatment.

Thank you to PEDIGREE Foundation and Humane World for Animals for helping keep pets healthy and safe, and with the people who love them.

Our August shelter star is our Community Engagement Coordinator, Kristina! 🌟

Kristina has been with the APA for 3 and a half years and has worn a few different hats. She started as an adoption counselor, then joined the development team!

When asked about what her favorite thing about working at the APA is, she said: "I love getting to spend time with the animals! They always make the day that much better."

We are so grateful for Kristina and everything she brings to our team!

Hey everybody, my name is Gravy, and I'm here to ask you to come visit me!

I'm 1 (and a half) years old, I play well with other dogs, and I walk great on a leash. Plus, I'm adorable—so what's not to love?

The APA is open from 10 AM to 5 PM on Saturdays & Sundays, and I will be waiting to see you! You can learn more about me here 🔗 https://apamo.org/adopt/adoptable-pets/?petID=17696

A long weekend is right around the corner, and you know what that means— Camp with a Canine is back!

This is your chance to give a shelter dog a much-needed break from kennel life. (Don't let the name fool you; you don't actually have to take a dog camping.) Our pups would be just as happy curling up on a couch all weekend!

Here's how it works:
🐾 Pick up an APA dog on Friday, September 4, anytime between 12–5 PM. We'll send you home with all the essentials so you don't have to worry about a thing; just enjoy your weekend whether it's camping or a stay-cation!

🐾 Drop them back off on Monday, September 7, anytime between 12–3 PM, or Tuesday, September 8, between 8 AM and 12 PM.

Registration closes on September 1! Sign up while you still can

If you looked up "laid back" in the dictionary, you'd see a picture of Cinnamon.

This 6-year-old's ideal day is napping, cuddling, sunbathing, repeat. Cinnamon is currently in a foster home where, in between her naps, she plays with the resident dog.

She's also Sit, Stay, Come Certified™ and house-trained! If you want to meet this sweet girl, give us a call at 314-645-4610.

Meet the newest resident of our cat condo sponsored by Frank Papa's Ristorante, Orangie! 🍊

Orangie has a lot to say, so he'd love to go home with a fellow yapper. He's 3 years old, enjoys a good sun spot, and likes to follow his people around the house.

If you're looking for a new built-in bestie, come meet Orangie. 🔗 https://apamo.org/adopt/adoptable-pets/?petID=5666

This beautiful girl is Nimbus, and you might notice something different about her eye. She has a condition called anterior synechiae, which means that her iris has adhered to the surface of her eye. As our dedicated veterinary team treated her, they could have used a piece of equipment called a tonometer to measure the pressure inside her eye.

Are you ready for some amazing news?

Before we could even share her story with you on social media, generous donors stepped up to help us reach our fundraising goal in record time. This means we will be able to bring a tonometer to the APA to help more pets just like Nimbus!

But wait...there's more! Nimbus just came to the APA for a checkup. Her eye has healed significantly in the past week. Though she has permanent vision loss, this resilient young cat has a beautiful life ahead of her—with her foster, who decided to adopt her.

We are so excited for Nimbus' new family and grateful for the opportunity to bring top-notch medical care to our pets. Thank you to our generous community for making this possible to help other pets at the APA!
