The horses and I decided to try our hand at these Arizona barrel races and Let. Me. Tell. You. What! I and SOOO PROUD of my horses! The ran like they’ve been here before!
Si (Spark It Up) ran his fastest time on a standard, FINALLY breaking us in to the 18 seconds. I got Si when he was just two years old and he is a home grown horse that I’ve only really started running consistently. I am beyond proud and thankful for this horse!
Shooter (Shootin Fire N Fame) also ran his heart out. He was smooth and consistent, even with rider error on the second day. I am so very grateful for both of these horses and this opportunity.
Both horses placed in the money both days brining home a little over 1k in prize money ❤️❤️ I truly am beyond words with this weekend! I can not wait for the next race!

My name is Kate Pence and I have been riding and training horses for 25+ years.
Over the years I have had the privilege of riding and studying under some amazing trainers. I started learning to ride under the instruction of my mother Judy Pence, who has a bachelors degree in animal science and was a star rider in the Cal Poly San Luis Obispo c**t starting program and barn manager at a premier Arabian show barn.
When I was 13 I started training with David Ventura, a well known Dressage trainer in the Brentwood, CA area. I rode with him for 15 years learning to communicate with horses through seat and leg commands instead of pulling on their face and mouth. From there I went to ride with my aunt, Rebecca Pence who helped me become a better Hunter/Jumper, schooling me to my first, first place ribbon in the jumping arena.
I then became interested in barrel racing and started training my AQHA mare, from there we went on to compete in NBHA for 3 seasons going to state finals twice. My mare and I won belt buckles and a championship saddle together. After retiring my mare I started training her daughter in, yet another discipline under the instruction of Anthony Peixoto, a talented and amazing cutting trainer. I have been riding and training with him for the past three years and still continue to do so.
If interested in having a well rounded horse or specializing in a discipline please feel free to call, text or email!
