One of my favorite parts of working in the garden is slowing down long enough to notice what’s actually happening around me.

I’ve been watching the honeybees visiting our banana flowers lately, and I was fascinated to see them crawl almost completely inside the flowers as they searched around. Every time I walk past, there seems to be another little group of bees working their way through the blooms.

There’s always something going on in the garden that I probably would have missed if I was in too much of a hurry.

Life can get busy and stressful, but moments like this are a good reminder for me to slow down, look a little closer, and appreciate the incredible little relationships happening in nature right in our own backyard.

🍌 Free Banana Pups – Rusty Top Farm

Well… we planted these bananas thinking they were going to stay a little more on the dwarf side. Turns out they had other plans. 😂 They’ve gotten a bit taller than we want for the space, so we’re relocating them.

We have 4 banana pups available for FREE to anyone who’d like to give them a new home.

We’re honestly not sure of the exact variety, so just know these probably aren’t the little dwarf bananas we originally thought they were!

A quick order going out from Rusty Top Farm today: fresh comfrey crowns ready for planting.

Our comfrey crowns are small rooted starts with roughly an inch of root and an inch of new growth. We sell them through our eBay page to help support the work we are building here on our small, veteran-owned urban farm in Brea, California.

Nothing goes to waste. The larger roots can be used for propagation, and much of the leafy growth we cut is turned into our homemade liquid plant fertilizer.

We currently offer:

• Fresh comfrey crowns for planting
• Fresh comfrey roots when available
• Dried and powdered comfrey root
• Comfrey-based liquid plant fertilizer for local pickup in Brea

Some products are available through eBay or Facebook Marketplace, and local customers are always welcome to reach out directly.

FREE Aloe Vera Plants 🌿

We thinned out our aloe patch a couple weeks ago and have several plants available. They’ve been sitting in the shade and still look pretty good.

We’d love to get them into someone else’s hands today.
