Happy Independence Day

Dear Farmer Veteran Coalition Members,

As we celebrate the Fourth of July, I want to take a moment to honor each of you – the veterans, farmers, ranchers, and supporters who embody the very spirit of independence that this day represents.

Your dedication to serving our nation did not end when you removed your uniform. Every day, you continue to serve by feeding your communities, stewarding the land, and building a more resilient and secure America. Agriculture has always been an act of independence and hope – and your work ensures that our nation remains strong and nourished.

On behalf of the entire team at Farmer Veteran Coalition, thank you for your courage, commitment, and unyielding service to country and community. May today be a day of pride, gratitude, and reflection for all that we hold dear.

🕷️ Nighttime Nature Check-In: Who’s Really Gardening After Dark?

Spotted this scene under the moonlight—a spider mid-meal with a cloudless sulfur caterpillar.

Nature doesn’t take a break when the sun sets. In permaculture, every creature has its role. Predators like this spider help maintain balance without us lifting a finger (or spraying a thing).

It’s a reminder: even in the dark, life is doing its quiet work. 🌒

a baby praying mantis.

In permaculture, we slow down, observe, and listen.
Nature speaks in rhythms—sometimes we just have to look at the right time.

Moments like this remind me that healing doesn’t always shout...
Sometimes it whispers under the moonlight 🌙

Just drove by and spotted our Vital Roots Foundation sign posted loud and proud at the Brea Canyon Channel (A04)—our official Adopt A Channel site! 🙌

We’re proud to have adopted this stretch and are looking forward to hosting volunteer days, keeping it clean, and doing our part to care for our local waterways and public spaces.

This is just one more way we’re putting down roots and showing up for the community. 🌿
