Hi everyone! And as always please share!
Good evening and I hope all is well with you!
Bryce's Foster's and Friends has been taking a small break from fostering kitties, but not from helping out! Below are 2 kittens that have been rescued from the elements and hopefully soon will be brought inside for rehabilitation! They will be getting fixed this week and then slowly rehabilitated and then up for adoption for a new home!
In the mean time, there is also some TNR work being done to help prevent an outbreak of pregnant cats in the same area where these 2 were rescued!
TNR stands for Trap, Neuter, and Release. This allows cats to have good lives and prevent sudden swells in the population! Some other benefits of TNR for cats is stress relief that comes with mating and childbirth, prevention of mating behaviors, like roaming, yowling, spraying, and fighting, improvements to physical health such as gaining weight, vaccination against rabies, and even longer lifespans!
So how can you identify if cats have already been TNR'd? Often cats that have been TNR'd will have a single clipped ear to make it recognized that they have already been neutered. While this may seem cruel it doesn't cause the cats any physical pain during the procedure as they are anesthetized, or put under. This is also some to prevent cats from being caused further stress from previous TNR markings that were used in the past such as tattoos on the ear which required the cat to be recaptured before determining they are fixed!
