Details of Services
I am fully capable of spoiling your, well adjusted pet with a cageless luxury spa treatment, in the comfort of their home.
BUT....
I specialize in nervous
owners / pets.
I specialize in aggressive breeds and dogs that bite.
If your pet has 'issues' why create extra tension by putting in car and leaving pet in a cage. I have a high success rate in evaluating and overcoming behavior issues with agressive or touchy dogs. Mostly to do with grooming. Your presence and the comfort of home creates excellent foundation for building trust. Where your pet has had reinforced positive expiereance. I have a 98% sucess rate in removing muzzles completely for grooming.
Instilling cofidence in hard to handle dogs. Is very reassuring to them. Recognizing specific tender areas, sensitive ways, and trepidations. I cater to these pets by coming to their home. Here Iam able to pinpoint, determine, and address behavior problem. Here the pet is able to present its true self. Which greatly, speeds up the 'getting acquainted' period. Working with pet where they are comfortable and have reinforced positive expiereances daily.
This is to the pets advantage. As I use the pets home as a tool.
Does your pet 'have to be sedated to be groomed? What is your 'plan' for when your pet becomes a senior & can't be sedated any longer? If you own a pet that 'needs' to be groomed, believe me, they are really going to need to be groomed when they become a senior. Forgive me for saying, but every time your dog is sedated you are taking a huge risk!
Senior dogs that have relied there whole life using there scences to verify where they are, get really scared, when they become blind or deaf. Even if they went to same grooming shop their whole life! They tremble with insecurity, and are unsure in their step. I have witnessed accidents and many close calls with blind and deaf dogs in a shop setting. Other health issues that may prevent pet to stand tolerate ride, or cage. Its just not fair to them.
WHAT HAPPENS IN THE BEGINNING...
In my expeireance walking in, grabbing pet to groom promptly, feeding nervous energy, and speaking to dog in high pitch voice. Is NOT the answer to a successful experience for any pet, especially pets with issues.
I have found that. Coming in and ignoring dog, (To the best of my ability). Allows the dog to calm down. I sit down. . Whether the dog is sad, mad, happy, or glad. I'm still waiting for dog to calm from initial anxiety of a stranger coming inside. Meanwhile, I speak with the owner, seeking out likes and dislikes, grooming history. Any traning issues I may be able to help with. Then I offer, and allow the dog to come to me. Dogs, have more respect when its their idea to be your friend.
TIME
This initial (first time)
introduction, with pet, can take anywhere from 5 to 15 minutes.
Its fair to average 2 hours per groom. X-large 3 hours. Although the first 1-3 times may take what should be a 2 hr. groom up to 4 hours.
Please understand, I may have to gingerally handle the pet along the way with each and every step. Gaining trust. Lessoning the time factor for each groom.
Its not uncommon, for a regular groom to take an abnormal amount of time, the first 1-4 times.
I do my best at setting my schedule. Knowing these initial appointments take longer. Its common for me to be 15 min. to 1/2 hour late. But there are times where I am really late. Please, remember, my motto is the pet comes first. & I will treat you and your pet with the same concideration and respect as all the others. Not rushing allows the pet to not feel pressure and stress, and lessons the chance for accidents. All the above builds confidence, and really pays off in the end. The most important outcome being that your pet is being left in a well mental state. And this positive reinforcement (by taking my time) allows for a trusting relationship with his/her groomer, and not to mention well groomed pet. Groomed the way you wan, and have the option to oversee. Without a dought you know your pet is happy, and safe.Afterall , if you left your pet in a shop, most owners are looking at a 4 - 6 hour wait. Having no clue what is going? Or, when you pick them up having no real answers why s(he) is shaking so much on the ride home, and upset for a day later.
My motto is the pet comes first. Therefore time management is not what makes me successful. What gives me happy clients and V.I.P 's (Very Important Pets) all with raving reviews, is the fact that I took my time.
Again due to my motto the pet comes first...
The only time you will not get your desired style is if pets health won't allow it.
If a pet gets overwhelmed due to particulars of hair style.
If pet requires a growing out stage.
If pet has to idure to much pain, to obtain your desired result.
I could make a lot more money in a stationary shop. But, the gratification for the service I provide is to rewarding.
I can not gaurentee. I can start or even complete a groom, sometimes I am forced to come back. Usually this happens with puppies. Due to being over stimulated, & they realize whats going on & decide to freak out on the 3-4 groom
