Update October 22, 2026

We are very appreciative of the tremendous response we received offering to foster Shadow. Hundreds of compassionate people reached out via email, messenger, phone & texts.

We wish we had the capacity to respond to everyone individually & thank you all, but that's not possible. We are working diligently to help Shadow & will update on this page with the outcome.

FYI so many pups needing homes & we need to also focus on the ones that have nobody reaching out for them that are suffering or in danger. We thank you for understanding♥️
***********************************
Shadow's family has had him since he was a tiny baby. He's still only a puppy. He just turns a year old. His family moved to a place that doesn't allow dogs. He has till the end of the month or he'll be homeless which means I'll be placed in a shelter. He's a quiet, gentle family pup who will be terrified in a shelter and will not do well. His dog, friendly kid, friendly housetrainef, sweet & gentle.

We need a foster ASAP to save this stunnung lab puppy from a horrible fate. Please email [email protected] to inquire about fostering.

Please be within driving distance from Bergen County NJ. We provide everything & will make sure he receives a complete medical wowkup & whatever else he needs♥️

BIRK
1-year-old male
Approximately 58lbs
Good with: Children ages 10+ yrs, dogs and cats
Needs: Single-family home with a physical fence
House-trained: Yes
Crate-trained: Yes, but does not need to be

Status: In foster & available for adoption. (To apply to foster dogs with Lab Rescue, please see lab-rescue.org/volunteer.)
Working On: Leash walking. Practice will make perfect.
Enjoys: Playing with other dogs, but he wouldn't turn down a belly rub or two!

BIRK is as happy a pup as he is handsome. He greets people with exhuberance, but calms pretty quickly, especially if there is another young pup around demanding his attention. Birk is very energetic and loves roughhousing with his canine friends. He does know how to tone it down, though, if someone is needing a timeout. From his humans he's happy to take treats and belly rubs. And when playtime is over, Birk settles well, either inside or outside of his crate. He is trustworthy and does not get into mischief. He must go to a home with another dog, and that dog should be young, playful and ready to wrestle. An older dog may find him a tad too much. But for a loving family that is looking for companionship, love and fun, for themselves and their dog, Birk is just the right amount of wonderful.
