Late summer is one of the worst times of the year for pet allergies. Just like in humans, allergies can cause severe discomfort in pets, so it’s important to know the signs:

🐾 Itchy skin and paws
👅 Excessive licking or chewing
👂Ear infections
😡 Red or irritated skin
🤧 Sneezing and watery eyes

If you notice any of these symptoms in your pet, it’s a good idea to give your vet a call.

What really happens when your pup eats chocolate ???

If you think your dog has eaten chocolate, or if they have any of these symptoms, contact the Pet Poison Helpline at 855-764-7661 or your veterinarian or emergency vet right away:

Vomiting
Diarrhea
Increased body temperature
Increased reflex responses
Muscle rigidity
Rapid breathing
Increased heart rate
Low blood pressure
Seizures

Advanced signs (cardiac failure, weakness, and coma)
Keep in mind, with any poisoning, it’s always cheaper, less invasive, and has a better prognosis/outcome if you treat early. If your dog has already developed clinical signs associated with chocolate toxicity, the veterinarian visit may be more expensive, and the outcome may be worse.

Tiny male neuter cat, presented for vomiting not eating not pooping but going often to the litterbox. After bloodwork and Xray , we confirmed that Tiny was a blocked kitty. He was lucky to still have an intact bladder, there is always the risk for bladder rupture if unattended and also unreversible kidney failure. Lucky for him after passing an urinary catheter and unblocking him, we started pain meds and IV fluids. He started feeling better right away.

A urinary blockage in a cat is a life-threatening medical emergency that requires immediate veterinary care. If your cat is straining to urinate, crying out in pain, or producing little to no urine, take them to an emergency veterinary hospital right away. This condition can cause kidney failure and death within 24 to 48 hours.

What Causes It???
-Urethral plugs: A mix of mucus, minerals, and crystals that block the narrow male urethra.
-Bladder stones: Mineral formations that lodge in the urinary tract.
-Spasms or inflammation: Swelling triggered by stress or lower urinary tract disease (FIC).

This little birdy came to us with a Follicular cyst or better know as Feather Cyst. Gladly we intervene and help draining the cust and remove the ingrown feather. The little fella did really good and recovered well.

A feather cyst is a bird is similar to an ingrown hair, occurring when a growing feather fails to break through the skin and curls inside the follicle, forming a firm swelling filled with waxy keratin. It is most common in canaries, macaws, and budgies.
This requires medical attention.
