Frenchie Mission Update & A Few Thoughts This Saturday Morning ❤️
Yesterday, we posted a plea for help to raise the funds needed to welcome a deserving group of Frenchies into rescue.
As of this morning, thanks to your incredible generosity, we have raised just over half of our goal, allowing us to commit to 6 of the 12 dogs at this time. Thank you to every single person who has donated, shared, commented, and cheered this effort on. We truly couldn’t do this without you.
Yesterday, we also received a comment suggesting that we network these dogs to other rescue groups rather than attempting to raise funds to bring them into our program. While we aren’t sure what the intent behind the comment was, it did prompt us to share some insight into the behind-the-scenes reality of rescue work.
In the month of May alone, we have networked more than 180 dogs. Of those 180+ dogs, only 9 have been welcomed into the B-Squad program. Why? Because bringing dogs into rescue requires more than a willingness to help. It requires available funds for veterinary care, supplies, transportation, and foster homes willing to provide a safe place to land.
Whenever we are unable to help a dog directly due to financial or capacity limitations, we absolutely do our best to network them to other organizations. We have always done that and will continue to do so.
What many people don’t see is that every situation is different.
Sometimes owners will only release dogs if they are accepted into our program because they trust B-Squad, want updates, or are participating in breeder incentive programs that require proof of spay/neuter and follow-up care.
Sometimes there simply isn’t time to shop a dog around to multiple organizations. Sometimes the only way to save a life is to say “yes” quickly and figure out the rest afterward.
The reality is that rescue is rarely as simple as it appears from the outside.
While comments like this may not be intended to be hurtful, they can feel discouraging to a team of volunteers who are already running on empty after an exceptionally busy month. We don’t typically address these things publicly. Most of the time we simply stay focused on solutions and keep moving forward.
But after networking more than 180 dogs this month, completing multiple rescue missions, and responding to countless pleas for help, this one struck a nerve.
Rescue doesn’t stop just because we’ve already helped hundreds of dogs this month. The requests keep coming. The need keeps growing. Most rescues—including us—are full and overwhelmed. Yet when this opportunity to help these Frenchies arose, one of our volunteers decided it was worth trying. Worth asking. Worth believing that our supporters might help us make another miracle happen.
Because trying is always better than doing nothing.
What doesn’t help is criticism from the sidelines when we are already exhausting every avenue available to us. If you don’t agree with how we operate, that’s okay. We genuinely wish you well. But we will continue to make this page a positive place focused on solutions, collaboration, and helping as many dogs as we can with the resources we have.
And we encourage everyone to do the same.
If you’re able to donate or share our Frenchie SOS fundraiser, we would be incredibly grateful. Every donation gets us one step closer to helping more of these deserving dogs.
Thank you for your continued support, encouragement, and belief in what we do. ❤️🐾
