Y’all, I’m all for AI and the ways it can help us. Honestly, I probably use it more than Google these days. I’ve used AI for fun and collages, and I understand why so many people love it. It’s easy, it’s fast, and it can be a great tool. But sometimes it takes away from originality. The amount of AI generated stud ads and puppy posts lately is getting out of hand. Some of them honestly make me cringe.
When AI completely changes a dog’s structure, coat, color, expression, or overall appearance, it stops being a true advertisement. I’m seeing puppies and ads that don’t even remotely look like the actual dog. I mean, To each their own I guess, everyone can market their program however they choose. But when people are making breeding decisions based on photos, accuracy matters. This is exactly why I stay within my own program and rarely venture outside of it. It’s becoming harder and harder to find people who are transparent about both the strengths and the flaws of their dogs. No dog is perfect, and no program is perfect. I’d rather see an honest representation including the parts that need improvement rather than an AI version that hides them. At least with my own dogs, I can evaluate where we excel and where we need improvement. That honesty is what helps a breeding program move forward. We have amazing photographers and graphic designers for a reason. Why not invest in quality instead of creating an unrealistic version of your dog?
