Painful lump or swelling on your dog shouldn’t be ignored. An abscess is a pocket of infection that can develop beneath the skin, often after a bite, puncture wound, or other injury.
🚩 Watch for these warning signs:
• A sudden, painful swelling or lump
• Redness or warmth around the area
• Pus, discharge, or a foul odor
• Your dog licking or guarding the area
• Fever, lethargy, decreased appetite, or acting unwell
Even if an abscess opens and drains on its own, your dog may still need veterinary care to ensure the infection is properly treated. ❤️🐶 When in doubt, it’s always better to have a painful swelling checked by a veterinary professional
