Oral Rabies Vaccine Distribution will be starting in the coming weeks. The USDA drops the packets from helicopters over certain areas to help manage rabies outbreaks in wild animal populations. Do not touch these packets with your bare hands and throw them into the woods if you can safely do so. Estimated start dates are Sept 9th-11th.

South Shore Humane Society and Peggy A Geyer are hosting a Pampered Chef Party fundraiser to raise funds to cover the cost of food, kitty litter, and medical bills. The party is running from 8/1 to 8/27. Pampered chef will donate 20% of the sales to SSHS for sales under $650, party sales over $650 Pampered Chef will donate 30% of the sales to SSHS. After surviving life on the streets, searching for food and a safe place to escape the cold, Archie has finally found exactly what he was looking for… a family to call his own. ❤️

This sweet, affectionate boy captured our hearts with his gentle nature, endless love for attention, and grateful spirit. Despite being FIV+, Archie never let anything stop him from being the loving companion we knew he could be.

Now, his days of wondering where his next meal will come from or where he’ll sleep are over. Instead, he’ll spend them being spoiled, cherished, and loved by his wonderful new family.

Congratulations to Maia and Manny on welcoming Archie into your hearts and home! We know this handsome boy has many happy years of cuddles, playtime, and unconditional love ahead of him.

🐾 CAT VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! 🐾

Do you speak fluent cat? We may have the volunteer opportunity for you!

South Shore Humane Society is looking for experienced, cat-savvy volunteers to help socialize our feline residents. This role is incredibly rewarding.
Many of our cats come to us scared, shy, or unsure of people. Volunteers play a huge role in helping them build confidence, learn to trust, and ultimately find loving forever homes. There is nothing quite like watching a frightened cat blossom because of the time and patience you've had with them.
We are currently looking to cover our Sunday am shift which you can start anytime but no later than 8am. If you woild like to learn more or want to become a volunteer please reach out.

Sometimes one cat steals your heart… and sometimes three do.

When Christina submitted an application for Crumpet, she thought she was coming to meet one special cat. But when she arrived and saw the bond between Crumpet and his buddies Mario and Garrett, she simply couldn’t imagine separating them.

So instead of taking home one cat, she opened her heart and home to all three!

We are absolutely thrilled to share that Crumpet, our Friday’s Fabulous Feline, was adopted along with Mario and Garrett. These boys have been through so much together, and now they get to begin their next chapter side by side in a loving forever home.

Thank you, Christina, for seeing how special these friends are and for giving them the chance to stay together. Stories like this remind us why we do what we do.

Happy tails, Crumpet, Mario, and Garrett! We can’t wait to see all the adventures that await you in your new home. ❤️🐾

🐾 Friday’s Fabulous Felines: Panda & Pandora 🐾

Meet Panda and Pandora — a beautiful bonded mother-and-daughter duo looking for a forever home together. Through every change life has thrown their way, these two have stayed side by side, offering each other comfort, companionship, and love.

Pandora, the daughter, is 2 years old, and her lovely mom Panda is 3. Both girls are incredibly sweet, playful, and affectionate, with gentle personalities that make them impossible not to adore. Whether they’re curling up together for a nap or chasing toys around the room, their bond is truly special to witness.

Because they are so closely bonded, we’re searching for a family willing to open their hearts and home to both of them. Their history before coming to us is mostly unknown, so we’re unsure how they would do with other cats, dogs, or children. What we do know is that they deserve a safe, loving home where they can stay together and continue growing old side by side.

Pandora and Panda are:
• Spayed
• Up to date on vaccinations
• FIV/FeLV negative
• Microchipped

Adoption fee for the pair: $300

🎉 ADOPTED — Blizzard 🎉

Our beautiful Blizzard has officially found her forever home with Dan! 💙❄️

This sweet girl’s story began just before the big January blizzard, when she was found wandering outside alone. Thankfully, she made it to safety just in time — trading the cold for warm blankets, full bowls, and the chance to finally relax and feel loved.

Once she settled in, Blizzard’s gentle personality blossomed. She adored soft pats, leaned right into affection, and charmed everyone with her stunning green eyes and quiet, loving nature. She also loved roaming and playing with the other shelter cats, showing us just how sweet and social she could be.

Estimated to be around 6–7 years old, Blizzard was the perfect mix of calm companionship and playful spirit — and now she gets to enjoy the cozy, loving life she always deserved.

We are so happy for Blizzard and Dan as they begin this new chapter together. 🏡🐾

Happy tails, sweet girl — no more storms ahead, only sunshine and love. 💙

🎉 ADOPTED — Ozzy 🎉

Our handsome mini-panther Ozzy has officially found his forever home with Tom! 🖤

Ozzy came to us as a stray with his adorable oversized polydactyl paws — front and back! After being safely brought into foster care, vetted, and given time to settle in, it didn’t take long for everyone to fall in love with this sweet, chatty boy.

Estimated to be about 4 years old, Ozzy quickly showed us what a gentle soul he is. He loved soaking up attention, chatting with volunteers, and peacefully roaming with some of the other shelter cats. Beneath those big paws was an even bigger heart.

Now Ozzy gets the safe, loving home he always deserved, and we couldn’t be happier for him and Tom as they begin this new chapter together. 🏡✨
