Naamen stands a solid 17.2 he's a presence not to be challenged. Joseph well he's a lil 14.2 pretty boy who is too fancy to intimidate anyone. Yet when Naamen was hurt Joseph was able to push him around and make him go to another feed bucket. This has gone on for months.

After the chiropractor came out and a couple of Bemer sessions Naamen is back to his old majestic self. Joseph walks over ears pinned back and stands waiting for Naamen to move. Naamen knows now that he can overpower Joseph in an instant so he just keeps eating and living his best life.

Our enemy has very few tricks up his sleeve but finding your weaknesses is one of them. He isn't bigger or more intimidating at all. He's an opportunist that waits for you to be hurt emotionally and then he attacks you.

Fortunately we have a God that is bigger and more powerful than any of the tricks the enemy could use. When we put on the armor of God the enemy has zero power in our lives.

We are home now with Lily and she was so happy to be here. Surgery went smoothly this morning with Dr Zach. We have an aftercare protocol that will include antibiotics and steroids along with treatment with a nebulizer. Her blood work was good yesterday, kidneys and liver functioning well.

Thank you everyone who has helped us through this journey with her. We have a follow up visit December 11th for another ultrasound of her lungs and scope of the epiglottis to make sure everything is healing well.

The staff took such phenomenal care of Lily while she was there and we appreciate everything there did for her!

Today's veterinarian trip to Stillwater started with a endoscopic and ended with a different diagnosis.

Lily has what is referred to as Epiglottic entrapment: This is a condition where the loose membrane underneath the epiglottis gets trapped over the epiglottis itself, partially or completely obstructing the airway. This only occurs in less than 3% of horses affected by obstructed airways.

 The bruised looking area in the first picture is the membrane which is preventing her from breathing correctly. She is scheduled for surgery tomorrow morning to scrape the membrane flat so the Epiglottis can perform its duties.

The ultrasound of her lungs shows prolonged damage to them. The white lines on the screen are damaged lungs tissue. This increases her risk tomorrow while being sedated. Steroids and antibiotics are going to help her start the healing process.

If you are still reading this and I hope you are, she still needs our help in long term care. We need to purchase a nebulizer. Lisa Disrud Kinney discussed with the veterinarian which one would be best suited for our situation. The cost is $1,400 with shipping.

The nebulizer will be a great investment not just for Lily but if we have horses with heaves in the future.

Lily will be able to come home tomorrow afternoon.

We prayed over Lily after we loaded her up in trailer heading to Stillwater Equine. She will have a scope to determine the procedure and a treatment plan.

Please take a minute to pray for her and all the Veterinarian staff!
