Rainy Day Grooming

Good day my wonderful clients, followers and lurkers!!

August 30th will be our last day grooming at Rainy Day kennels in Smethport. We've enjoyed our time there and have many many clients who we love but we are getting older and have other adventures on the horizon.

If you are a current client in Smethport, any and all are welcome to be a client at my home location in Custer City...and many of you have confirmed you will be making the drive over on your usual day for grooming, which I am both grateful and humbled by.

Those of you who have chosen to seek out a groomer closer to you, I completely get it and it's no issue for me, except, when you have an appointment with me and you no show...no call to let me know. IF you have an appointment with me in Smethport and you've found another groomer and no longer need to be on my schedule, Please let me know. I don't think anyone enjoys waiting around for a person who has no intention of showing up and doesn't answer calls or text. It's only happened one time this past week, but it was enough of a thing that I just thought I'd post a little note reminding people that being kind enough to let me know that you've found another groomer is very much appreciated as that opens up a new spot for people who are waiting for an appointment.

Good day Folks!!

Just a heads up, I'm booked out for a while....if you've left me a voicemail and I haven't gotten back to you, or spoke to you via message and told you I'd get a hold of you when I got a spot....I've had no spots open.

Booking for September but that's spotty at the moment.

Sina is around 7 months old, 15 lbs give or take and has one beautiful blue eye.
She is a low/non shedding poodle mix and will require regular grooming appointments.
She is very shy but will warm up being with the same people and a routine.
She needs another confident dog/s in the home. She loves other dogs and will gain confidence from them.
She is not potty trained and has never been on leash. She’s going to need a fenced in yard.
Adoption fee is $175. She is spayed, up to date on shots and has a lifetime microchip.

Good day everyone!!

This update only applies to my current Smethport clients but everyone is welcome to read.... :)

Now until August 30th I will be letting everyone know that will be stopping grooming at our Smethport location at Rainy Day Kennels. (I guess I need to add here in case people don't already know that we also groom out of our home in Custer City and have been ever since we started. Balancing two locations has been a bit challenging.)

First off...the why's....

My husband has a few health issues that are able to be better controlled at our home base. This spring has been tough on him and this wet weather is making it pretty tough for him to get through a grooming day at our Smethport location so we've made the hard decision to cease our grooming operation there.

Let me be very clear. We LOVE Nancy Dart and We love our customers in Smethport...there has been no "event" or bad thing that has occurred between my husband and I and the Dart family that has brought this on. The Darts have been kind and caring and while disappointed we've made this decision, it is understood it's for health reason's that this is occurring.

Secondly...so what now?....

Our Smethport customers are important to us so we are going to continue our Saturday and Monday appointments with any and all current clients who want to continue with us and don't mind the drive over here to my home in Custer City. Obviously I will be speaking to each one of our affected customers one on one but just wanted to post general information about our changes. We will do our best to have a quicker turn around time here in Custer City for Smethport clients. I'm letting everyone know well in advance of this change....3 months I feel should cover everyone that I work with over there and should give everyone time to organize to either plan their trips over here and how they are going to use their time while their dog is getting groomed...or to find another groomer that will be closer to them.

I appreciate everyone who trusts me with their pets grooming needs and we'll miss the ones who find elsewhere to go but we completely understand if this new change will not work for you.

First time in 12 years that we've had to send dogs home undone because of the electric being off. I apologize to all my customers and I appreciate you all being so kind and flexible in your scheduling. This weather has truly been crazy this year.

BTW: If you're ever in a bind and have an electric car that has vehicle to load.....use it to dry your last dog that was just rinsed off before the electric went out...lol.

Good day all, I just wanted to let everyone who follows this page know.....

I appreciate all of you and.....

I have no appointments for Custer City available on Sunday's for the foreseeable future....if you want to come home by me for grooming I only have very few spots on Tuesday's available...and in case you are wondering....drop offs are from 9am until 10:30(sometimes a tiny bit later is possible but need to be discussed first)...pick ups are from 11:30 until 1 ish... If you can't make it during these hours then I have nothing available...we do not work evenings.

Smethport location.....

Here and there I have a very limited number of spots.....I'll be happy to try to get you in but again....no evening appointments.

Thank you all for the continued support...I wouldn't be so busy if it wasn't for all of you!!

Good day all.

I hope everyone had a great Christmas and will have a wonderful New Year.

Unfortunately I am going to have to implement a price increase this year, it will go into effect on January 1st.

All grooms will go up by $3.00. So if you pay $40...it will be going up to $43....etc.

The only grooms that will not be effected by this are my short haired dogs who just get baths on a regular schedule.

This increase will help to cover the rising costs of running a business.

Good day all!

I hope you all have Happy Holidays!!

I've been extremely busy as most of my regular customers are aware. I've been giving all my repeat customers their Holiday appointments ahead of time since October.

As of right now, I have no availability currently until after the new year.

If someone cancels I will get a spot or two to open up so I have a cancellation list available if you'd like added to that.

Message, text or call and I'll get back to you IF anything opens up. If you don't hear from me, I don't have openings.

This is our main shampoo we use on every single dog for grooming and coats do generally improve over time.

Good morning everyone!!

So, I hate to post about this again, but it seems that many people take appointments that are made for them as a suggestion to show up for a grooming appointment and while I expect it to occasionally happen, it's a financial drain.

If you "forget" your appointment and do not show up....think about this now....as a business owner....that appointment is lost income and now that I've had no advanced notice I have no way to recoup that income....unless I charge you a no show fee, I'm a nice person and hate to do this.

Imagine you get your paycheck...you expect a certain amount each pay....and they "forget" to pay you wages for 3 hours work....well...that would suck right?

I have people calling me everyday for grooming, and I have to tell them I don't have space, because, I don't at the moment until August.....and then I end up having spaces I can't fill due to people "forgetting" their appointments.

Being self employed is hard enough without having to chase down people for missed appointments....fees or rescheduling.

Please, have some respect for the people you are employing to do a job for you, call, text, email, Facebook message....whatever works for you....and let me know that you cannot come to your appointment at least 24 hours in advance. Emergencies happen, I get that.....no issues there.
