Always bitter sweet when the last pup goes, but we celebrated with ice cream and cherry pie rolls. We also got a lot accomplished so decided to take a stroll through the Cave Hills before the leaves are gone. Hunting season here we come!

🐾 The Heritage of the Golden Retriever 🌿

Ever wonder where our beloved Golden Retrievers came from? Let’s take a quick trip back in time! ⏳✨

🏴 Born in Scotland:
Golden Retrievers were first bred in the mid-1800s by Lord Tweedmouth in Scotland. His goal? Create the ultimate hunting companion — one who could retrieve game on both land and water.

🐕 The Perfect Blend:
Lord Tweedmouth crossed the now-extinct Yellow Retriever with the Tweed Water Spaniel (plus a little Irish Setter and Bloodhound) to create a dog with a soft mouth, excellent nose, and an eagerness to work.

💛 More Than Just Hunters:
While their roots are in hunting, Goldens quickly became beloved for their gentle temperament, intelligence, and eagerness to please — making them one of the most versatile breeds in the world.

🏆 Today’s Golden:
From field work and dog sports to service, therapy, and being the perfect family companion — Goldens have stayed true to their heritage of being loyal, hardworking, and always ready for adventure.

The light pink female got to spend the week with me before going to her new home in ND. If I had it my way, she wouldn’t be leaving. Sooo smart and so personable.

This being the last female to leave means there are three males left! Anyway, just dropping some pics of our week together.

Momma Murphy🤎

Murphy went from only having four puppies to a group of nine and she has handled it like a champ. Her beautiful coat is still as soft and thick as ever.

Murphy is a smaller golden with a lighter coat that’s thick and as soft as it gets. Shes between 50 and 60 pounds. She’s an indoor princess that’s too smart for her own good. She’s will always figure out a way to tell you what she wants.

She loves her people and has become a fam fav. She also love her bed, her bestie pit bull and all of her kiddos. In another life she had to have been a service dog.

A few of her pups have gotten her very soft coat and and most of them, her charming personality.

Happy National Dog Day (yesterday) from our large crew, including a few honarary ones and some past ones💕

Work hard, play harder had been a good motto around here and the dogs are no exception. They work hard all pheasant season and enjoy the rest of the year being a part of one big fam!

Green- male- Sold. Don’t let the tired boy in the pics fool you he is Mr. Personality like his dad. Most like Ted in looks and acts. If you’re going he wants to go with. Poor guy was the last for pics and was so tired he laid down and went to sleep in middle of pictures. 😅
