Please take the time to read what Adam wrote about his Dad! Great story, and great people!
They brought me his beautiful smoke phase, double bearded bird last year and gave it to me to mount, and keep in my showroom to be enjoyed by many, for years to come! I also mounted one of my birds, which is a red phase, in the same pose to complete a scene that hangs with his bird above my showroom doors.
Gary French is a KY native, a Vietnam War Veteran, a retired school teacher, an avid outdoorsman, & an amazing father. From the time Gary retired from teaching in 2005, he has had the opportunity to make lots of memories & fill lots of tags, including two gobblers every spring since that retirement. Along the way he has also instilled his enthusiasm for hunting & fishing in his 3 sons.
In September of 2021, Gary was dealt a blow that put his gobbler streak in jeopardy: he was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. After 55 straight days in the hospital for chemotherapy, he returned home, gained his strength back in the winter, and made sure to fill two gobbler tags that spring. While my family has always understood and valued the blessings bestowed on us, Gary’s cancer diagnosis has given us a renewed sense of appreciation for the special memories we share in the woods. Every tag is more than a tag. Every passing season is a reminder of God’s grace to our family and every tag filled is more about the time together enjoying the outdoors. I’m so thankful for a Dad who served his country, serves his sons, & gives them his time and support in any way he can.
We knew this big white phase gobbler was around our farm. Unbelievably, he was the first bird on the ground on opening day of the 2024 season. My dad & I doubled that morning for the second opener in a row. We wanted the bird to be appreciated, not only for its beauty, but also as a symbol of God’s precious gift of time in the outdoors. We hope everyone will enjoy seeing it in your showroom for years to come.
Sincerely, Adam French
