For all my friends with dogs or cats:
Sunday, November 7th from 12-6 on at the KOA Campground Convention Center in Bowling Green.
In the event of a life threatening emergency, would you know what to do to save the life of your pet? If your pet was hit by a car, or choking to the point of not being able to breathe, you might not be able to get to your vet before it dies. Would you know how to remove an object lodged in their airway? Would you know what to do in a "hit by car" accident involving your pet or even someone else's? There is no "911" call to make for a pet. You would have to be the "first responder" and I can teach you that. Or would you be afraid of getting bitten? Would you know how to give CPR to a dog or cat? There are three types of CPR, depending on the size and breed of the pet, and they are not like that for a human. Would you even know how to transport a pet that weighs 100 pounds without causing further injury to the pet, or even yourself? Would you know how to stop bleeding, or what to do and also not to do, in case of snakebite or spider bite? What would you do in the event of poisoning? Would you have them throw up or bind it up and let it pass. When is it too late for that? PetTech Pet First Aid & CPR is a very comprehensive program for pet parents as well as pet professionals that offers hands-on training to make sure you can perform the tasks properly. Doing CPR incorrectly could cause more harm than good. That's why I explain, demonstrate and individually make sure you can perform the life-saving measures correctly, training you cannot get by reading a book. I have been teaching this program for three years and am a former respiratory therapist and veterinary assistant. I have done human CPR countless times in my career. My class is a two-year certification and the cost is $100, normally $139. Don't wait until "you wish you had taken this class". $100 is a small price to pay for being able to save your fur baby's life. I recently heard of a lady who was preparing a meal and dropped a chunk of meat on the floor, only to have her dog swoop in and swallow it whole, choking. She had no idea what to do and her precious pet died right in front of her eyes. The same thing happened one Thanksgiving when an entire family was gathered together. But this time, one of my pet sitter professionals was there and knew exactly what to do. He took charge and relieved the dog from choking (we do NOT use the Heimlich maneuver). He was a "hero" in the eyes of his family that day. If you are a pet professional, you will elevate the status of your business by being a concerned and qualified professional for your facility.
