🏡 DECLUTTER FOR A CAUSE 🐾

Looking for a simple way to make a difference for shelter pets? You might be sitting on a goldmine of supplies without even realizing it!

We are masters of upcycling and can put your unwanted items to use. Here are some things we can use:

🚨 Washcloths (urgent need). Stained, frayed, or mismatched — we don’t care. We’ll put them to appropriate use!

🚨 ACE Bandages (urgent need). Of course, we can use new ACE bandages, but gently used is okay too!

Towels
Small blankets
Gently used pet beds
Pet toys, collars, leashes, crates, or other supplies your pet has outgrown.
Empty shoeboxes (a favorite for kittens!)
Newspapers
Your office supply overflow — if you won't use it, we will!

Take a look at some of the adorable pups who’ve come in for their booster shot recently. These brave pups have some amazing pet parents! 🐶✨

When puppies are born, the temporary immunity they get from their mother's milk slowly fades away. To stay fully safe from deadly viruses like parvo and distemper, puppies need a series of core booster vaccines every 2 to 3 weeks until they reach 4 months old.

If you welcomed a new puppy into your family, keeping up with this strict schedule can get expensive, but we've got your back! Thanks to the Petco Love Foundation's campaign, you can bring your pup to the Hotaling Spay/Neuter Clinic for FREE booster vaccines.

No appointments are needed! Just walk right in on any Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, or Friday, 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. We want to help your baby grow up safe, strong, and fully protected. ❤️

✨ MERLE & GABRIEL ARE HEALING! ✨

We have an update for two of our bravest medical rescues:

🐕 Our big, brave boy, Merle, came to us with both a broken front and back leg. He just received an amazing report from Dr. Ellie and was officially cleared to leave the vet! He was so excited to return to the shelter and say hello to all of the staff members. While he loved his shelter homecoming, he won’t be staying here long — he is heading straight to a loving foster home where he can finish his healing process in comfort.

🐈 Gabriel was found as a stray this week, and we quickly discovered he was suffering from fractures in both of his back legs. We promised to do everything in our power to give this loving, silly boy a second chance. During his procedure, Dr. Ellie at Nashville Road Animal Clinic determined that due to the age of the old injury, saving the leg wasn't possible. For Gabriel's long-term health and comfort, his right back leg was amputated. The incredible news? The surgery went beautifully, and Gabriel is already feeling relief! He’s already back to demanding all the pets and attention from our staff. ❤️

To everyone who has already contributed to their medical costs — THANK YOU.

🐾 BGHS Pet Spotlight Project: Meet Lyla! 🐾

Our latest student spotlight shines on a gorgeous, fun-loving girl named Lyla! This post is special because the two Bowling Green High School students who spearheaded this entire project came to the shelter to hang out with her.

Please join us in the comments to thank Elli and Mary for their incredible dedication. These two have poured their hearts into this project, using their voices to help so many of our residents find their perfect forever homes. We are so proud of their hard work! 💜

🌟 Get to Know Lyla!

Lyla is a lovable goofball. This Lab/Shepherd mix has a big personality, a big heart, and plenty of energy to share with the people she loves most.

Lyla is the kind of dog who thrives when she’s truly part of the family. She has primarily lived indoors, is housebroken, and already knows how to be a wonderful, well-mannered companion in the home.

Despite her size and enthusiastic happy wiggles, Lyla is incredibly sweet and gentle with children. She gets along great with other dogs and would love a canine sibling to romp around with! She’s playful, fiercely affectionate, and always ready to make you laugh with her silly antics.

If you’re looking for a loyal family dog with a goofy streak, Lyla is ready to pack her bags!
