The “assistant“ trainer had a blast running Started at the Bev Amelung Memorial Hunt Test Retrievers Unlimited Spring Hunt this weekend in New Athens, IL

S*K Black Pearl “Sienna” made her hunt test debut and passed both days!!

Between the weather on Saturday and Sienna being a handful at her first test. Millie had several hurdles to overcome and I am proud to say she stepped up to the challenge!

Lassiter passed both tests and Ruby and Tinker each picked up their first Master pass!

First hunt test of 2025 is in the books.

Star, Rip and Rosie each picked up two started passes. Pistol got his first two seasoned passes. Ruby ran two very challenging/fun finishes tests and went 2/2.

Congratulations to Dan Flynn and Brazos (Lassiter son) on a great run and another Finished pass.

It was great seeing the HRC family again and meeting some new.

Everyone do your part!

EAT ME! Please? I'm invasive and delicious.

It's National Invasive Species Awareness Week and this year, please consider the following slogan "Save a Swamp, Sauté a Nutria." These invasive pests were brought here for their fur and began to escape captivity back in the 1940s. Their nonstop munching and burrowing destroy the plants that keep marshes stable, leading to erosion, loss of habitat, and wetlands that look like something out of a disaster movie.

Their meat has been compared to rabbit or even the dark meat of a turkey. If your state has nutria, check your local regulations to see the rules for how to hunt, capture and then ultimately, cook these nuisance critters.
