Well, someone contacted me, asking me to massage their adorable 11 year old Labra Doodle named Asher. How can you say no to that face?

Here are some photos of the session for your enjoyment.

Such a SWEETIE!

Dear Friends of Katz & Dogz,

If you read my post from last November, I officially closed my practice.

However, I am keeping my page up because of all the wonderful memories, photos and stories that this page captures.

If I come across a wonderful story or article acknowledging the contributions of our beloved dogs, I may choose to share them.

Thank you.

Wishing everyone a healthy and wonderful year.

Sincerely,

Arnie

Dear Friends,

I have come to an important decision. After 16 years, I have decided to stop promoting Katz & Dogz and to officially "close" this practice.

I will be focusing more of my energies on my human massage practice, and also on facilitating of massage and healing workshops, on creating stress reduction programs for companies, and also on the expansion of my new role as a certified professional coach.

I was the first person (to the best of my knowledge) to do canine massage in Boston and it has been a privilege and an honor to advocate and champion for the well-being of animals using holistic means.

I have learned from every dog and cat I have seen (and the guinea pig, the donkey, the cow, the horses, etc. too), and grateful for the opportunities and learning provided. It has been a JOY!

Now, all this being said, if someone contacts me and asks me for a canine massage for their beloved dog or wants an instructional session, I will still do it. The point is that I am not putting energy into growing this business and focusing my attention on where my heart and soul are most drawn at this time to make a difference--teaching and facilitating healing.

Thank you all for your support over the years. It has made a difference to me, and I am grateful.

Be very well.

May Peace Prevail in Our World and May we Learn Unconditional Love and Acceptance, and Affection from our Beloved Animals.

Dear Dog and Animal Lovers,

I had the good fortune to meet and massage a 12 1/2 year old Golden named "Blondie" this week...Just a really sweet girl...who happens to have some arthritis...... She was so cooperative and sweet....attached is a photo of her post-massage.

The first dog I ever massaged was back in 2000, and his name was "Charlie", and he was a Golden too. Also so sweet and good natured....

And then a dear friend sent me this post today about the heroics of a Golden back in 2001 named Daisy.....this really moved me....

James Crane worked on the 101st floor of Tower 1 of the World Trade Center ... He is blind so he has a golden retriever named Daisy.

After the plane hit 20 stories below, James knew that he was doomed, so he let Daisy go, out of an act of love. She darted away into the darkened hallway.

Choking on the fumes of the jet fuel and the smoke James was just waiting to die. About 30 minutes later, Daisy comes back along with James’ boss, Who Daisy just happened to pick up on floor 112 on her first run of the building, she leads James, James’ boss, and about 300 more people out of the doomed building.
But she wasn’t through yet, she knew there were others who were trapped. So, highly against James’ wishes she ran back in the building.

On her second run, she saved 392 lives. Again she went back in. During this run, the building collapses. James hears about this and falls on his knees into tears.

Against all known odds, Daisy makes it out alive, but this time she is carried by a firefighter. “She led us right to the people, before she got injured” the fireman explained.

Her final run saved another 273 lives. She suffered acute smoke inhalation, severe burns on all four paws, and a broken leg, but she saved 967 lives.

Daisy is the first civilian Canine to win the Medal of Honor of New York City.

Isn't that an amazing story? But somehow, not surprising at all. Dogs are the best teachers of selfless loving, loyalty, and unconditional love...as well as how to eat hearty, play and have fun!

Happy April! Happy Spring to all.

OMG! How lucky am I???? Today, I will provide my first official doggie massage of 2015 for Jake the Boxer (it's been a busy time setting up my new human massage practice, and that is going very well.).

Jake had a growth removed from his right leg last year and is having some residual leg and back pain. I have a feeling that he is a real trouper! I will send more photos after our session! (thanks to Jake's "Mom" for permission to share and to use his photos.)

Happy and Healthy and a tail waggin' New Year to all!

Hope everyone is dealing well with walking their dogs in all this rain and snow!

Take care,

Dear Katz & Dogz followers,

It's been a busy time with travel and my human massage practice, and not much new to report re: animal massage lately, other than spending great quality time recently with some wonderful dogs and cats, and clowning around with my friend Luca's 10 year old daughter Pepita.

The dogs here are Stella and Silvio. The cats are Matilde (on the fence post), Griglieta, Emily and Fioco. Italy's finest!

Wishing everyone a Happy November. Animals are our family! I am so grateful for their presence every day in my life! They bring me so much joy and teach me so much about being in the moment and living life with gusto and honesty!

Till next time....have fun!

Good morning,

My dear friend Sandy wrote a beautiful poem about Harmony that I want to share with you all. To me, dogs are the embodiment of love. They know how to be themselves and to love and to greet each other (most of the time) with wagging tails and open curiosity about each other. If only we could be that way more of the time as human beings. Dogs are one of my greatest teachers and reminders about how to stay in love rather than living from fear.

I hope you enjoy this poem and this BEAUTIFUL summer day. Make sure you and your dogs get enough water! : )

Under One Sky
by Sandy Hussey (June, 2014)

We are humans under one sky creating the future from our past.
The past holds insurmountable hate, unfathomable grief, and an unyielding belief in Us and Them.
With this past we create our future.
I say to you: We are humans under one sky!
Let us forget our past
Let us let go of the hate and anger
Let us create a new belief that we are one human under one sky.
What world will we create if we greet each other with:
“Good day. We are one human under one sky. Together let us create a harmonious future.”
What world will we create if with every decision we ask: “Am I creating a harmonious future for us humans under this one sky?”
One day we will have created a beautiful harmonious future where we are all one human under one sky.
Then we can shorten our greeting to: “Good day, Harmonious Human.”
And eventually, “Yo! H. H.!”
Until then we shall practice with every greeting and thought:
“Good day. We are one human under one sky. Together let us create a harmonious future.”

Sancho Panza Moreno-Barlow-Blatt
January 18, 1998 – May 23, 2014

I had the pleasure and privilege to massage Sancho a few times these last 6 months. I was sad to hear of his passing, yet happy that he was here. He brought much JOY to Stephen, Paul and Nancy as the mascot of 5 Star Travel Services, and to the neighborhood.

He will be greatly missed.
