Train for Life;
Holistic, play-based training in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Connecticut, and Rhode Island.

At Chromatic K9, we believe that the purpose of training is to create a fulfilled and harmonious life for dogs and their human companions. We believe any high quality dog training plan includes meeting the dog’s needs as a complex living being; this includes giving access to breed and species-specific outlets, curating a dog-owner relationship centered around clear communication and trust, and looking closely at the connection between a dog’s behavior, their emotional state, and their physical wellness. When these foundational pillars are prioritized, training becomes not only easy but fun. Whether your goals include a rock-solid off-leash recall, long-lasting behavior rehabilitation for your anxious, reactive or aggressive dog, or even competing in GRC Dogsports, Chromatic K9 is here to guide and support you and your pup on your training journey.

I originally entered Eli in CDSP Starter Novice at New England K9 Athlete as a way to help us prep for our Mondioring trial that’s coming up in November.

I was not trying to title him or compete but after 2Qs yesterday I couldn’t help myself and entered him for another run today. He was even more pumped to be there today and finished out his Starter Novice title with a score of 192.5 and placing Second in his class.

I was so proud to learn over the past two days that his enthusiasm to work and try for me stayed just as high without any rewards or aversives.

He’s a really special guy and I feel lucky that I get to be his mother after personally birthing him 2.5 years ago (or so he claims)

Your dogs don’t have to have to be flat with no feelings to coexist happily and safely. ✨ Training ✨

The herders and I had lots of fun this weekend at GRC Dogsports nationals while Sonny got to hang out with his auntie Leritza (he would like to petition for a new mother)

I judged SR tests Saturday+Sunday and got to see lots of good friends and meet some new cool humans and dogs!

Eli competed in Spring Pole (he was confused why I was asking him to hang onto an inanimate object that wasn’t fighting back) and Mill Race (he ran his little heart out and placed third for his mother’s ego). He also got to practice jumping off the dock and swimming multiple times a day (thank you PAWS for being so generous with your amazing facilities!!) I almost entered him in the Wall Climb competition to see what he’d do (he’s never seen that picture before lol) but after seeing how much effort he put into Mill Race with the high humidity I chose to let him rest and instead got to watch our friends and their very cool dogs kick ass.

I was also honored to handle Arson SR3 😎 while he waited for his mother to finish running Klepto SR3 😎 and vice versa. Let’s just say, I don’t know many cattle dogs with their level of intensity who would be so easy to handle in a busy trial environment while other dogs are participating in drive sports a few feet away. Unsurprising, given who their mother is 😘

Most importantly, my best girl got to go on a million walks a day, sleep in bed, hunt, and train all weekend. Every trip with her is a gift and she seemed to be feeling well this weekend after her acupuncture appointment last week.
