Twenty years ago today, a 16-year-old from Pennsylvania who had moved to Nashville to write songs released an album with her own name on the cover. It came out on October 24, 2006, on a brand-new independent label called Big Machine Records. It opened with a song named after somebody else’s husband.

Over the past 72 hours, Boston Made, Inc. has been bringing its digital network together. The public home, newsroom, reader, apps, storefronts, and specialist brands have grown over time, each serving a purpose. The latest work makes the connections between them clearer.

A reader exploring a story should be able to find the related brand. A customer browsing a product should know where to go next. Across the network, the goal is a more consistent experience that makes every step feel connected.

This focused three-day rollout brings together months of ideas and development. Here’s the story behind it.
