Welcome to BUDDIES of Bossier City Animal Control. The BUDDIES page is run strictly BY VOLUNTEERS to help network the animals of Bossier City Animal Control (BCAC) in Bossier City, Louisiana. Our goal is to help save lives through networking and help provide space for the shelter to aid more animals in nee

d. Weekly, we will post BUDDIES OF THE WEEK (dogs and cats) NEEDING RESCUE AND/OR ADOPTION. As volunteers, we have no legal authority in the outcome of the animals. We are volunteers doing the best we can, but we cannot do it alone! This is a community problem and requires a community to help solve it. We would appreciate anyone that can help us network the posted BUDDIES in need.

🐾 Look at all these great adoptions, including Casper, who was the little Shih Tzu with a bit of an attitude. We are so happy for all these dogs and cats who now have loving homes! 🐾

💕 Wow! Thank you to Willis Knighton for the plethora of donations! We love our community and Willis Knighton for their loving support of Bossier City Animal Control and the animals in our care. It shows a lot that a hospital who takes care of humans, also cares about animals. 🐾 Looks like we have a little photo bomber in the background. 😹

Meet KELLY... a quiet, sweet little Beagle mix who has the most pleading eyes. This little girl came in as a stray on June 19th, 2026. Sadly, no one ever came for her.

She's had multiple litters. Someone didn't care enough to get her spayed and then didn't care enough to try to find her. So many dogs are just like Kelly, sadly. We don't know her history, but we'd love for her to have a new chapter... a furever chapter... of love, care and attention.

Please watch her video... how gentle, quiet and sweet she is. Someone, hopefully you, is reading this right now... and you know she must be part of your family. She needs a HERO and that is YOU!

Foster to adopt -
This is Casper. Casper is a 9 year old Shih Tzu. He is neutered and heartworm negative. Casper has not had the best luck. He was originally surrendered to BCAC in June of 2025, by an elderly woman who could no longer care for him. He went into foster and then was ultimately adopted by the foster home in July 2025. He was returned August 10, 2026, due to them moving.

Casper needs a specific home. He’s an old man and has had some grooming trauma in the past that makes him not so trusting with groomers. So he may need grooming at a vet clinic or with a groomer experienced with dogs like Casper. He needs a home with NO KIDS WHATSOEVER… NO EXCEPTIONS! He may have the propensity to bite due to his current distrust of humans. Who could blame him, though? To be abandoned twice and be in place with strangers and loud, barking big dogs… has to be traumatic.

Casper needs a quiet home with someone who will make sure he gets groomed regularly. His previous homes neglected to keep him groomed. He came in the first time heavily matted. On his recent return, he has a skin infection and is on antibiotics.

He needs a home that’s going to give him the time and patience he needs to learn to trust. Dogs like Casper can bond with a human but it is going to take the RIGHT human, not just anyone.

Full disclosure: He will growl at you when you meet him. He may try to bite you. One advantage is he is missing his front bottom and top teeth but he still has his k-9’s and other teeth. Staff will take him out of his kennel so you can visit with him.

He is also available to rescue. You can visit with Casper 10-3:30 M-F 12-4 Sat.
